just got a boat yesterday... now I need to pick up some a couple batteries for the trolling motor.

Kind is the important word. Get deepcycle batteries. If you have the storage room get 27 series size. Look for reserve amps. Try to get 200 reserve amps if you can. Don't settle for less than 160 reserve amps. If the place you are looking doesn't have them, GO SOME PLACE ELSE. Any good marine dealer or auto parts store should have what you need for + - $80@. Avoid Walley World like the plague!

Delco Voyager, maintanence free, affordable and long lasting

I just put "Optima" batteries in my boat. They are expensive, but worth it!

i use the voyager batteries for the trolling motor. "The Battery Center" in arlington has some darn good prices on them

i use the MAXX series from Walmart for the cranking battery. very happy with both!

I WOULD GO WITH THE DELCO VOYAGER NO MAINT. BATTERY AND LAST A LONG TIME, I HAVE BEEN USING THEM FOR YEARS

Sears has die hard platinums cost a ton but have three year warranty. I've had optimas and just about everything else never had to replace mine and can usually fish two days on them. I fish about four to five days a week. I'm not a 100% sure but I would bet they have the longest amps compared to anything else.

I like the wally world batteries due to the fact that I can go anywhere to get them replaced. I have gotten some duds in the past, but was always able to return them with no issue.

Hachie I agree with everyone else about cheap batteries from walmart if you don't mind taking them back more often. If you plan on fishing a tournament think different cause if you get out there and your batteries go out you just wasted 200 to 300 dollars then you have to ask yourself was it worth it?

I asked this question about a month ago. Comik29 on this forum told me that Trojan batteries are the best. He said that most electric fork lifts probably use Trojans. I think Academy Sports carry them. I have never used them but he is a subject matter expert on this one. Personally I would get the best battery you can afford. That is one of the things I would not skimp on. I hope this helps

Im about to give you some invaluable advice. Buy Everstart MAXX batteries from Wal-Mart! No matter what lake your ever at or what time it is you will always be able to find a Wal-Mart...all batteries eventually go bad, so when these do you will be close to a Wal-Mart for your free replacement. I travel all over the place to fish and I have not bought batteries since I had my first boat. Trust me this is the ONLY way to go!

I use the Yellow WalMart batteries, two of the biggest ones. They work fine, and if they go out, there is a WalMart in every small town in Texas, and they will replace.

My Skeeter has all Trojan Batteries that have been in for 5 years. I just replaced the cranking and the trolling batteries are still going strong.

I have the Cabelas AGM batteries in my boat now.
Had A/C Delco batteries in a prior boat and they were fantastic batteries especially for the price. Maintenance free also.

I used to do the Wallmart thing with batteries, but made too many trips there with batteries that died before their time. Now I just get better batteries and make less trips to Wallmart.

I think trojan makes minnkota batteries. I have minnkotas and haven't had any problems yet.

Forget brand. Buy what you can afford. Care of batteries is paramount. If money allows buy another charger and mount it in your house and put the batteries on it when not fishing. I have fished many tourneys in all kinds of conditions with "cheap" batteries and never had a problem. But then I do replace them every 18 months regardless.
