1st report be gentle..
We hit Quintana jetties 1st at 6:30am calm waters, clear skies, light winds, water temp around upper 60s. tried crabs, live shrimp & work the lures early... nothing. a few kayakers & other small crafts around us too.. They had the same results -nothing. Stayed til 10:00am then packed up. Went down to Treasure Island - nothing. Last spot was San Luis Pass. (SLP Pier closed) So we went wading...bumped into more yakers -nothing. Drove down towards 61st street pier. - nothing.

Beautiful day to relax outside. Just no fish. Another day it is.

Yup Shrimp typical Jan - Feb fishing . I have not been since Christmas Day and my fishing equipment has been crying ever day in the shed . if this warm winter keeps up we might try soon . But you know and I know when the Rodeo comes to town we usually get a cold blast . I figure mid March ( 4 weeks ) we might be able to go fishing again .

Fishing the beachfront is tough during the winter months. One would have much better luck fishing the bays.

Look for bait concentration and deep water with mud and shell. Mid bay reefs are prime spots for winter Trout during the winter.

The Redfish will be scattered just about everywhere from the marsh to the surf.
