Oh I don't like water moccasins.....I hear they stink but maybe the wind was blowing the wrong way when I have been near one...I never smelled it. They give me the creeps.

Pretty sure that was a nerodia. Hope you didn't kill it.... they would hurt anyone unless you grabbed him directly (trust me, I've tried , dozens of needly perch grabbin' teeth)

Not much need to keep your guard up until it reaches 70's. Snakes of the genus Nerodia generally come out on warm winter days to sun while Agkistrodon (Copperheads and Cottonmouths) usually don't come out until it reaches highs of low 70's. Harmless and crucial part of the food chain, but when molested they will act like they are the devil himself and stink to high heaven. They just don't wanna get hurt by us fishermen

Do you think it would be of benefit to do like a seminar at some metroplex lakes or an online video thing on snakes to keep our fellow TFF'ers safe? Might be kind of fun to work on once spring time comes around.

Mason I think that's a great idea. It seems that at least 80% of the population has a fear of snakes. I'm not one of them, I would rather see a snake instead of a mouse or rat.

People fear what they don't understand. Giving education to people about creatures that may not look attractive but help nature is a big plus. Steve Irwin was pretty good at that.

Speaking for myself I don't think I'll ever understand yellow jackets, wasps, hornets, and esp. mosquitose. They just bite without cause.

I think it's a really good idea too. I'm not scared of snakes, just give them a wide berth whenever I see them. Especially since I can only readily identify a couple of species.

i never kill snakes unless there in my yard and venemous (a coral snake once)because i have dogs. i think its a very good idea to inform everyone.another fact people dont know is that if an adult moc bites you when you step on them you most likely wont get enough venom injected to hurt you. key word here is ADULT. the reason i think this was a moc. is because the shape of its head was flat and i couldnt see his eyes.(until i got beside him).but anyways if ya'll do put something together and need help im available.
