I almost never get to fish POC two weekends back to back. But, I had a local shop install a jack plate and the boat was ready saturday. That provided a good excuse for the trip. The nice weather also helped. I got on the water late, about 11:00 am, after picking the boat up. I spent most of the day playing with the jack plate.
We shot out to the jetty's for a while to see if the sheephead were still there. They were and still a bit finicky. I tried a different rigging. I basically tied a drop shot rig similar to what is used for bass fishing out of 30 lb mono leader with a 2 oz weight and a long shank jhook. With braided mainline, I could feel the sheep's peck and didn't hang up much. I kept my five and tossed several small ones. Also picked up a couple puppy drum. All on shrimp.
After I got tired of the swells and fast current of the jetty, I shot to the back lakes. By then it was dead low tied and I didn't want my first attempt to enter pringle lake with the new boat to end with me stuck on a sandbar without any help to push off. So, I took the opprutunity to scope out the entrance channel for next time.
I ended the day about the time clouds blew in at the next Pringle entrance (Rahal, I think) wading the oyster shell. I picked up three redfish on tequila gold bull minnow. All looked undersized. I forgot my tape in the boat. Oh well, catch and release by default.
