Newbie at this so a little slack would be nice.

Here is the report: arrived 8:00 am with my father in law and fished from the dike towards the bridge side at mid way point of the dike for 6 hours. ABSOLUTELY, beautiful day and have never seen the water so smooth. Used 1/2 frozen blue crabs on #5 circle hooks and 2 oz weights. Threw these about 30yds. Ran up and down the dike with live shrimp on popping corks.....Nothing, was not really expecting to get a hit, but you never know. At about 11 am, my father in law got a screaming hit that melted the bearings in his reel at some point during the fight(not kidding he had to buy a new reel today). 30 minute fight and brought in a 50lb Uglier than Sin Big Ugly. 30 minutes later I landed a 34 lb BU. Yes, catch and released both. Had to tell the people stopping their cars and wanting to take my fish home to back off. No big deal.

I wanted to extend thank you to the community. We had been going to the Galveston pier and Sea Wolf for the last 2 months and getting skunked. Came across ya'lls website and spent a week researching. The forum gave me the right bait, line, place, time, etc.

Will be posting in the future.
