40 views and not one answer...

It's not that hard of a question... What kind of frogs do you use? Anybody know of a better one than the Stanley Ribbit?

Zoom Horny Toad, with a 4/0 XWG.

bassdreamer, are you giving it an extra count or 2 after the strike before you set the hook?

Favorite all around frog is the Snag Proff Tounament Frog.

Favorite soft plastic frog is the Mister Twister Hawg Frog.

I will start throwing it just as soon as some of the early spawners start to move off the beds.

I have and use the Spro frog, Scumfrog (Trophy series), ribbit and horny toad.

I don't really start throwing a frog until late spring early summer.

I use the Zoom horny Toads on a 5 or 6/0 Owner screw lock. Only problem is they are good for one fish maybe 2. Solution: After the screw lok tears out cut the nose of the toad off and re shape it with scissors and it is good for another fish. Solution #2: Use a 3 0r 4/0 offset hook wiyh a paracite clip. The clip pulls on the offset part of the hook instead of your hook eye increasing your hook ups and less damage to the toad.

Lake Fork Tackle has a larger frog that kicks up some good water. Used with a 5/0 screw lock frog hook

I'll start throwing a frog about april. no better plastic frog than the ribbit. I like a 3/0 EWG. Use the bead that comes in the package, it helps the frog come through the thick stuff better. 50# braid on a 7 ft heavy rod. Give them just a second or two after the blow up and then rip their lips. If the fish misses and you have the discipline to not yank the frog away, but can let it sit, 25% of the time they'll come back and get it.

I use mainly the Horny toad, with 4/0 and 5/0 frog hooks. And this year I will continue to throw the Horny toad, but will also start throwing the Strike King Rage tail. Those things have unreal action.

I use a 3/0 or 4/0 wide gap hook... and reel it in with the rod up at almost 12 o'clock... when they hit it, i go down to about 90 degrees wait till i feel the tug then let em have it. Can't hardly miss one that way.

I used a 4/0 ewg hook in the past, and I let the fish load up the rod before I set the hook, and just could not get any to the boat. They seem to be more than a fad, so I'll give them another try this spring/summer.

I used white and black like buzzbaits, any other colors ya'll like?

Zoom Horny Toad, NetBait Frog, LFT Frog. Only use the Toad Toter hook from Mr.Blitz in Hemphill. No other hook even comes close. http://www.mrblitz.com

Rage Tail has got an awesome frog and I whacked alot of fish on them last Fall. Late Nov. 07, I found the top water Rage Tail Shad and it is unbelievable. Caught'em great and wished I had them earlier in the year as well. Not to worry, Spring is just around the corner.

i use a Stanley ribbit frog just about all the time for every situation. I hook it on a 4/0 owner wide gap hook and if i am using in thick junk i use 30lb braid and in open water i use 15lb flouro. I hook the from much the way you hook a worm for texas riggin. Putting th eye inside the frog and riggin it weedless. Hookin it like this makes it go through anything without hangin up. I fish with my rod tip in the 11'oclock position and when i get a strike i drop the rod tip and count 3. then try to jerk the bottom out of the lake. Reason for this is, If you have ever seen a Bass grab a frog, most of the time they grab their legs to stop them and then a second swallow takes in the frog. Thats my 2 cents on it. Also far as time. I always have one tied on year round. I caught five fish over 3 pounds yesterday in 38 Degree weather on a frog.

Have to put my two cents in on a frog since I throw one from early march till early december on every lake I go to but since I live by Rayburn I throw one every single day. I love how everyone keeps throwing the horny toad and ribbit frog, keep throwing them it makes it easier for me to catch fish behind you when I throw my frog since its a totally different style. And yes Dillon i'll be throwing one in two weeks so get ready.
