start by washing the danny kings of your hands when you come back from a fishing trip, either that or show her how much a sea food platter costs now a days at a resturant, if she likes to eat fish, if she dont your in big trouble

I'm with swiper striker get on schooling sandies and after she catches a few this should be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. That's if she likes to fish. That's what hooked me. After I caught a few I was hooked.

NO SCHOOLING SANDIES, that will ruin her forever... she will think that is supposed to happen on every trip. I know this from experience and it has taken several years to convince her (my wife) that fishing isn't just about catching as many fish as possible. Sell the ideal of quality time, good sunbathing and just being together with no distractions and she will eat it up. It worked for me and now she is content to go, even has the boat ready when I get home from work!! PS. Also, get a boat with a BIG back deck, that way she has her own domain... and if that does not work take her and fish some of the couples tourney's, they offer a toned down competition factor and good fellowship. Good luck!

Well...first it might just not be her thing. Are you wanting her to go with so you can spend time together? Maybe provide other things for her to do. My boyfriend and I fish together a lot, but I like to paddle around in my kayak and explore just as much as I like to fish. So, he knows he can get me out on the water more if we take kayaks. He fishes all he wants and when I get tired of tossing my fly rod (realize we're usually out all day and I have the attention span of a 2 year old), I paddle down river or upstream and go exploring...bird watching...etc. Also, I found that I enjoy fly fishing more than anything else. I never got real excited about using a spinning rod, but the second I caught my first perch on a fly rod...I was hooked. So, I guess along with putting her on fish (as suggested above), maybe see if there is anything else that she might enjoy that she could do while you fish? And don't stay out all day at first...ease into the all day fishing excursions.

PS. Also, get a boat with a BIG back deck, that way she has her own domain... That worked for the wife and me, She stopped going on the bass boat and when I asked why she flatly stated it was too small and uncomfortable. Changed to a 16’ pontoon boat, actually one foot shorter than the bass boat and she loves it! Goes all summer long. If she isn’t fishing or driving she is sitting reading a book and having a glass of wine.

How about not pressuring your friend to fish? What if she is just gonna tag along, while you have peace and quiet, and talk? Bring an extra rod in case she decides she wants to try it. If she sees all the fun you are having, she may ask to fish. I agree with many remarks here. YOU take the fish off for her, use artificial bait at first, etc... Let her try some of the fish y'all get(dinner). YOU clean them and start them cooking. Don't get her to clean any at first. Maybe by easing her into it, she will want to give it a try. My best friend won't fish with me, period. She is fine with my obsession. She just won't join me...LOL.

Sit her on a nice crappie hole and let her have at it, I'd keep the rig simple, bait her hook for her the first few times. I know that's how I developed a passion for fishing, by experiencing the adrenaline rush of hauling them in.

I have to say this first off....make sure she undertands that fishing is nto about catching fish...it a form of therapy. You don't go fishing with you male buddies to talk about the kids, work, problems or anything that you have weighing on your shoulders. Its a time just to take a break from all of it. Men can fish for hours together and not ever say a word and its not awkward. You are just fishing. Women do not think this way (for the most part). Its can be a great time jsut to contemplate. Silently. Watch a heron seaching for a fish, watch teh water lapping on the rocks on the shore. Its not a time when you have to think about heavy subjects. Sharing a time with her where there is nothing but the lake and maybe a fish is priceless. You can't tell her to shut the hell up and fish like you can with your male fishing partners however this has not been a problem with my fishing buddies. Its down time. Let her know that before you go out and I bet it will be a great trip.
