Congrats on the new graph Your gonna love it. Check the version that you have. If you need to apply any updates, you simply have to go to Lowrance, download the update, load the update on an SD card, insert the SD card into your unit and then scroll through the unit to upload the update. Sounds harder than it really is. Good luck and may the fish shine bright on your screen

Thanks for the help JV4. I checked out all the units and decided on the 522 mostly because it is the same size as the 135 on my dash. Anything bigger wouldn't fit without taking off the windshield or going with a Ram Mount. The price was in my ball park, so I think/hope it will serve me well. Going to try it out tomorrow, I'm sure I'll be hitting you guys up for advice soon!

Glad to hear it Matt, now all you have to do is learn to fish while you play with your unit(NPI) I spent the first month looking at my GPS more then fishing. You wont believe how much stuff you can find to fish now. Now if I could get Jimbo to upgrade I could sell my boat and still go fishing all the time Looks like the wind will be bad for several days so call me later this week and maybe the hybrids will be hunger

Seemed to work fine. I turned it off and on 3 or 4 times. It took about a minute to find location each time. Is that normal?

That seems a bit long, but I have an external antennae, so it may be normal. If I were to turn my unit off, but still have the connectors hooked up, the antennae would still track my position. Perhaps the internal anntenae units shut the GPS system down as well.

i didnt think about that. i dont have the power going to the GPS antenna on a switch. Must be why mine is so quick to connect.

You guys just cost me close to a grand. Sick of seeing all these great screen shots of color graphs and GPS units, so I had to run out and get one . Matt, I feel you!! JV made go and get one also!! I got the Eagle 2000 which is the same as the Lowrance 27c (pretty much). Mine came with out the antenae. I still haven't bought it so I am just using it as a sonar for now!!

Hey Matt , Thats the same way I have mine set up--if you cut power it will take some time to find its position again when you turn it back on but if you wire the internal antena so it has continuous power it will always show your position, also if you are moving at a good clip it will take longer to find its position. I have mine set up with a dash switch that lets me keep power while I go fishing and then when Im done I switch it off and I dont have to worry about draining the battery?

JV4 who is the guy on your signature with the Dean guitar? My son has a linking to Dean guitars. I got him a Dimebag Razorback 7 for his B-Day last year and he got an Dean V 255 for Christmas. They are hideous looking things but man can he play them.

DJ, the Eagle looked like a good unit to me as well. I like Eagle electronics really well. I would liked to have bought it, but I already had the Lowrance wiring.
I usually don't turn off the power that much to the graph, so it doesn't seem too long for it to aquire position to me its only about a minute. The main thing I will need work on is to get the sonar settings the way I like them. I know exactly what structure and fish look like on my old unit. I'm going through that "new graph" learning phase again.

Just got the X135 moved up front by the TM, now all there is to do is keep reading manuals and wait for the wind to lay!

Rick my unit seemed to be working fine on Saturday when we were pounding them and everybody else was having trouble. Hey, we didnt do to bad Well, another day of trying to see how much punishment I can take with this fishing thing JV4 and I decided to fish Hubbard this morning First thing was first…..”Lets don’t start to early “ ….. I hate sitting at the house and waiting to go fishing On the water at 9:00am and man was it foggy…. Thanks to the brilliant minds that invented GPS One little hint, nor reason to start at 9:00am. We had 13 fish on the clicker by 12:30pm. We made a decision to go eat some lunch so we pulled the boat up to the docks at the boardwalk and went and ate at Dodies Cajun restaurant. Man was it good. After lunch we went back out and got a good 1 ˝ hour break from the cold and fog. Found fish scattered around with some bird action. There were more birds and fish on the graph then on our hooks. The water was 46 degrees and it was tough to get them to bite. Dead sticking bass assassins was NOT the trick today. We caught a few like that but not many. TNT slabs worked most of the day though, I was also using a ˝ jig with a curly tail body and ended up doing fairly well with it. We were going to leave and Sea Pro Todd called and had birds working out from the jetties. We hauled arse over there and caught a few nice hybrids and big sandies Today was TFF day out there To many people to name, if you want to shout out go ahead I forgot to mention, while JV4 and I were working all day to find fish, our good friend Ruben was in a nice warm house He called a couple of times and got a fishing report and waited till we got into them for us to pick him up at the dock So Ruben got to catch fish today, but he was the smart one All fish caught on TNT slabs, grubs, Bass As. Water was 44-47 degrees and winds were 0-12 mph. All fish were in 28-32 ft water. We did not get off the wateer till 5:30pm with 16 hybrids and 50 sandies caught and released. On a closing note, While were where catching fish at the end, there was this huge cruiser trolling There were 12 or so boats all in a circle, you know how it looks when people are catching fish. Anyways, I looked at JV4 and Ruben and said “ SURLEY THIS GUY IS NOT GOING TO TROLL IN BETWEEN ALL OF US RIGHT? “ ….HE DID….I mean he was not 5 ft away from us, with other boats on the other side of him. This guy was a moron, I am sorry to say it but he was. We had to use our trolling motor to get out of his way, he was big Hey John we saw you guys down at the Jetty--wondered if the birds were working? Could not tell looking thru the glasses but Jimmy found us a spot on down south and we ended the day catching two dozen hybrids and alot of big sandies. Had a new fishing buddy of Jimmy out and he caught more then me on his second trip out :hammer It took me a hour before I landed my first Hybrid! Here are some more picks-- JimmyWe needed some fresh fish for dinner so we keep 4 hybrids and some big sandies last pic is kind of fuzzy but shows alot of fish Most hybrids were right at 18" and a few unders but I did have a 21" and a 20" and Cal had a few big 20+ fish also. Was a great day to be out
