POC is a great place to fish. If your gonna fish the bays get a good map otherwise you'll find yourself on the reefs and sandbars. Like jug said it big jetties would be your best bet, or if calm enough the surf. Good Luck!

Winter time fishing can be awsome if done right. Mid morning bite over mud and shell if the sun warms up the flats using corkies can be blistering. Afternoons try drifting deep reefs using soft plastics on 3/8oz jig head. Stay away from shrimp offerings. Fish are smart "match the hatch". I would go with TTF trout killer or salt water assassin in pumkin seed/chartreuse or morning glory. Red/white also are popular. A VERY SLOW RETRIEVE is of the utmost importance . I mean a crawl, fish are slow and lethargic in cold water. In espiritu santo, the matagorda island shoreline just south of steamboat island is good under mid morning sun. Find mud, find shell, find fish ! in the afternoon, there are literally hundreds of mid bay reefs. You need a hook and line map and a gps. Look for bird activity and jump from reef to reef. drift them with a drift sock to slow your drift never shut down the big motor over the reef. Mithells cut will also be another viable option working the drops. Remember,"super slow retrieve".

Flounder fishing is best during the run in november, but can be caught year round. Fishing a mud minnow on a sliding sinker rig in the icw can put flat fish in the boat.

I love fishing POC, the big jetty is the place to go on the outgoing tide, just outside the jetty (gulf side), and on the in going tide, I fish inside the jetty (bay side). Lot of current there and the waves at the end of the jetty can get big. Take it slow and keep the bow of the boat up and you should be able to make it past them. I usually go to the side that is protected by the wind so that I can relax.

I like fishing the big jetty and the so side of bird island. Those are easy places to get in a deep v cc and you dont know the area. mitchells cut to the coast guard ruins is good to.I aways fish the moveing tides at cut entrances off mitchells to oilwell cut. Good luck great place to fish.

When are you talking about going? If for some reason our offshore plans fall through for the 1st of march we will be hitting the flats... May head to Baffin but most likely it will be port O...
