The Red River Fly Fishers have teamed up with Eisenhower State Park to host the fly tying event “Texoma Tie In” at Eisenhower State Park on the shores of Lake Texoma on Saturday and Sunday, January 26 and 27, 2008.

Everyone is invited to join us for the “Texoma Tie In”. Admission to the event and to Eisenhower State Park will be free, and you can even fish within the park for free. There will be scheduled activities and featured fly tyer's on Saturday.

Eisenhower State Park is located on the Texas side of Lake Texoma. Admission to the park will be free to anyone attending the fly tying event.

Directions to Eisenhower State Park: From TX Highway 75 north of Denison, TX. Take Exit # 72 west toward the Denison Dam. The store “Dave’s Ski and Tackle” is located on this corner. At the edge of the Texas side of the Denison Dam, turn left onto 1310. Follow 1310 to the park entrance.

I hope everyone can join us this weekend.

DIANE BLAIR: Diane is a member of the Dallas Fly Fishers, was 2002 Federation of Fly Fishers Southern Council Woman of the Year, and a Whiting Farms Pro Team Member. Diane has been tying flies for 9 years and most enjoys working with deer hair and razorblades to create colorful patterns and designs on her bass flies. She taught fly tying, casting and fly fishing at TPWD’s “Becoming an Outdoor Woman” retreat in Brenham, Texas this year.

RICHARD BLAIR: Richard has been fishing most of his life and fly fishing for the past 10 years. He is a member of the Dallas Fly Fishers and the Roadkill Round Table. He ties to fill his fly box with both warm and cold water patterns and particularly enjoys tying soft hackle patterns. Richard hopes to interest his grandchildren and great grandchildren in the sport and the art of fly tying and in that way, pass along his love of this hobby.

KEN BOHANNON: Ken started fly fishing at the age of 10 and is a FFF Life Member. He belongs to many fly fishing organizations and has fished extensively throughout North America. He is an Area Chief with TPWD and teaches many fly fishing and fly tying classes. Ken’s specialty is deer hair bugs.

AL CRISE: Al is a FFF Master Casting Instructor and has been the Co-Chairman of the Youth Camps since 1999 at FFF National, Chairman of Youth Camps at the Southern Council, and Southeastern Conclave. He will be tying surface hairbugs and crawfish patterns that have proven to be winners on Texoma.

MARK ESKEW: Mark has been a member of the Dallas Fly Fishers for 9 years and ties with the infamous “Roadkill Roundtable”. He is an instructor in the DFF beginner and intermediate fly tying classes and teaches at Fly Fish Texas as well. Mark’s flies are displayed on DFF fly plates and sold at the annual club auction. He attends various shows in Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee as well as the Southern Council Conclave (SCFFF) in Mountain Home, AR, and National Conclave of the FFF in Livingston, Montana. He is the former President of the Dallas FlyFishers. Slim won the SCFFF Fly Tyer of the Year for 2002. John has fished extensively in Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Alaska, and parts of Canada. BUDDY PRICE: Buddy began fly fishing when he was around ten years old for bream and bass on the Tennessee River in North Alabama. He still has his old Shakespeare fiberglass rod that he used for many years as well as his Dad's old bamboo rod. His first attempt at fly tying was not long after he starting fly fishing. Buddy took an old hook, a cork, some thread, some feathers he found in the yard, and some model airplane paint and made a cork popper. It didn't survive the first fish. That's an event I'd love to attend. I know most of the folks there. Asking that group a question is like asking a question on Google, you'll get a good fly tying answer. Go if you have the chance.

Great summation Robin. It was great to finally meet you and thanks for the reel. Drooling over the 1 wt does not appropriately describe what most of us were doing but this is a public forum. LOL

Hey Robin, good summary of the day's events. I couldn't have been embarassing her too much, I wasn't singing or dancing. Besides isn't that a dad's job to embarass their teenage daughter?

I was casting one of the new TFO Axiom rods when she made that comment. That is a nice rod, but I was more comfortable casting the TiCr series. I sure was fun to be able to compare how all of the TFO rods cast.

Rex, it actually warmed my heart to hear that. How many people would sign up to give a quart of blood to be in your shoes? Quite a few I am certain. \:\)

As an aside, I have been known to threaten public singing in order to gain cooperation - it's a very effective tool.
