Hushpuppy mix from grocery store. Then substitute beer for the water it says to add. Also add some whole kernal corn and finely chopped jalapenos.

Quiet dawgs!

1 cup cornmeal
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup flour
1 egg
3/4 cup of milk
dash of red pepper
Chopped green onion tops 2-3 of them
1 tablespoon grated onion

Beat egg, add remaining ingredients, mix well. Drop by spoonfull into 375 degree oil and fry until brown, turning once.

While there is a great deal of speculation as to the origin of hush puppies, there should be noooo speculation of the tastiness of these.
