Has anyone ever rented a boat on Lake Fork? If so was it a good experience? Not so much did you catch any fish but rather were there any problems with the boat, rental staff, etc...

My freinds and family both have had good luck with them!

Never a problem with Rick's boats or staff. Ricky is a really great guy and his rates are reasonable. He is very close to the public launch. Give him a try.

well,...my first trip to Fork I rented from Rickys. This was last year in summer. First of all he was to meet us at the launch site where we were staying at daylight, that didn't happen. We waited and waited, and finally drove to his place, which wasn't even opened when we got there. Finally about 1 1/2 hours later, and excuses, he shows,..we do the paper work (by the way you need to leave a $500 open credit card deposit) and he takes us to the lake. These boats are "used" for sure, the front seat was almost unuseable and wouldn't stay in the hole. We never left Mustang Cove,...we only putted around the shore lines for a few hours and never went onto the lake proper. The boat was fish-able, but barely. Just about 3pm we were going from one spot to another, and the motor cowling fell in the water,..and sunk like a rock right out in the middle. I had had enough, we parked the boat, called Ricky and told him we were done, I explained all the problems, he could have cared less,...he was mad at me because the cowling came off !! And now he wants me to pay for it,..I was hot. Long story short was he ended up charging me about $250 for the cowling,...never again. Buyer beware,...check everything, and be sure it's not broke befroe you rent anything...I learned my lesson.

I would stay clear of Ricky's! He's been known to start fights on the ramp with other vendors...he's even been kicked out of a marina or two! I keep waiting to find him on the 10 O'Clock news one night!!!

Try Lake Fork Boat Rental....NOT Ricky's Lake Fork Boat Rental. Ask for Keith, great prices and awesome service!

Dang for those rates, and I know they have to be that high to make a profit, but I would hire a guide for the extra money. For the amount it costs to rent a boat for 2 days you could nearly hire a guide for one day and probably have more fun.

What is funny is I thought the same thing before I bought a boat. When you factor in payment, insurance, gas and usual up keep. $325 twice a month is really cheap. Down side, you have to book way in advance and cant bring a guide with you to a tournament......
