My son and I have done alot of bank and pier fishing from Clear Lake to Galveston. we know have our first boat, even though it is a jon boat. I would like to know if anybody can tell of some good places to put in at that we could enjoy and learn the area by water. Thanks in advance.

Id put in a TC Dike and scout the bay first..

Or

You could hit up West Bay and see if you can get into some trout but honestly I would start with the Dike. I would also look into putting in at Tiki Island and fish the shallow water reefs.

Thanks, but I forgot to mension it only 14' and wasn't real sure about putting in at the dike. Unless you are talking about the first ramp you come to. I think it is on the left side. What about mosses lake?

Arties Ramp isn't that bad.. It can be a PIA if you have a larger boat on low tides, but not for a jon I suspect.

I haven't fished Mosses in years.. No clue how it's doing and don't hear many reports..

There are a couple of boat ramps on Moses Lake. Rays is one, can't remember the other one, but they are right next to each other. They are good ramps. Or you could put in at April Fool Point and go in through the flood gate. TCD ramps are pretty good, but crowded as heck in the warm months and close enough to the ship channel to get some pretty large swells from passing ships. The ramp at the end of the dike is protected for loading and unloading your boat, but once you go around the corner it can be a little dicey for a jon boat sometimes.
