I am looking at purchasing a use 2004 Tahoe LT. When I asked for a break down of the fees one fes was called Strike Force and VIN etching. The vin etching they said would get me a discount on insurance, not true. I called my insurance and they said the only discount for theft would be for something that would prevent theft, i.e. alarm system. The other thing that they are charging for is Strike Force, they said that this is a coating that will prevent scratches. Has anyone heard of this product?

It's a wax that the dealer is selling you. They all call it something different. Some will include a re-apply every few months & repair rock chips for free & some don't.

I always refuse to pay for it. They "pre-install" it on all cars & make BIG $$$. If you don't pay they don't loose anything.

sounds like you are dealing with some shady car salesman. its like pulling teeth!! gotta do it, to get to the end result.

You're buying a chevy--- shoulda used Monte. hes one of the only ones I trust.

truth be known... those windows were probably etched back in 2004 when the vehicle was new, and the wax is probably nothing more than the normal stuff the detailers use everyday....

I am a jerk sometimes, I woulda laughed in the salesmans face and walked out the door.

Every penny they get out of you for those things is 100% pure profit. Window etching insure that in the event the vehicle is stolen and not recovered you will get 5,000. It's stupid and worthless.

That VIN etching and Mop and Glow are a 100% Rip Off I would not pay a dime for it.
