This is my first winter fishing LLELA. So far its been very very slow. No matter what spots I hit or bait/lures used theres just little to no action. 9 out of 10 people you talk to are having the same results.
I know there are several folks on here that have been fishing this place for several years. I'm hoping some of you LLELA veterans can share some tips that may make for a better winter outing.

slow down, then, when you've done that, slow down some more.

The water here doesn't fluctuate in temp as much as it would if it were a longer stretch of river, but even at that the water cools down some.

Hit the deep spots, and hit them slowly those fish aren't going to be in a mood to move very far for food (and in this river, they don't have to).

stay at home, you'll get more sleep and you'll catch just as many.

The stocking schedule shows that LLELA should have been stocked again today. Does anyone know if that is correct? I haven't seen any postings here about it. If it is, I think I will check it out tomorrow...if it warms up.

If they did then get there early and claim your spot! Stocking weekends get packed.

I called TFFC and they told me that LLELA had been stocked on Thursday.

Last year I went there three times and did well all three times. I went there today and hit my regular good spots and only caught two. Very slow and I didn't see alot of other people do very well either.

I did see the game warden and he was rousting some people for using a seine net.

I hope the game warden gets every law breaking SOB out there. At least they'll think twice before coming out there again. Too bad couldn't keep a list of these people, and ban them from returning.

Me and my BIL caught limits of trout both friday and saturday. didn't see any larger trout caught so have to presume they only put in the little ones on this stocking. Saw them caught on flies, lures and bait.

Did you catch them in the tail race below the dam?

Caught them all out of the first big hole further downstream.

Fished LELLA for the first time yesterday afternoon with a buddy. Didn't have any luck, but we weren't out there long. We saw a couple of people caught their limit.
