One to keep handy when the White Bass start hanging out at windy points on local lakes! A quick tie fly tying demo of the pattern that uses foil wrappers used for Bevita Cookies, Frito Lays Chips, etc. It's a simple tie and is rigged sabiki style. Even better, it's less than a minute in length! Quick Tie - Sabiki Fly.

Started Sunday morning with a swing and miss at the “Pond Behind In-N-Out Burger”. Decided to move to another spot just down the road… it’s the pond along Angel Parkway. Windy and cold still, did not plan to fish for long. But, then got a bite… turned out to be a nice Bluegill! Was about ready to head home, but decided on “one more cast”. Took a little to figure out the hookset but ended up losing count of how many were caught and released. Even came back later that evening and lost count again of what was caught and released. Will get a video posted of the evening round later in the week. For now, here is the video from this morning! Out and About Sunday Morning Pond Fishing.

I haven't been doing too much fishing around home due to work, but I did manage to get away to Austin this past weekend. Fished Brushy Creek in Round Rock Saturday and Sunday mornings. Caught my first three Guadalupe bass and some nice-sized sunfish all within a mile of I-35. Here is a video of the larger fish I caught. These came on Llano Bugs, Llanolopes and a soft hackle fished in a hopper-dropper rig.

Struck out the other day fishing the pond behind In-N-Out Burger. Decided to give it another try Monday. Things started slow but did pick up with Bluegill. No Bass but the Near Deere fished 2.5 feet under a strike indicator were the key! Pond Behind In-N-Out Burger.

Saturday I fished the 3rd event of the NTXKC kayak bass tournament trail here in North Texas it was held right here at Lake Lavon. I had high hopes that I could do well being that this is my home lake. I had predished several places and ended up finding a great spot just south of the Bratonia ramp where I caught 3 bass in an hour in some aquatic vegetation there. The water was about 2-3ft deep I had 3 keepers one being 18” so my plan was go there first on Saturday and try to get an early limit. I had some good water clarity back there as well. That all changed on Saturday. I can only guess that the high winds from that Friday had kicked up silt from the lake bottom and muddied up all the water back in that area. I spent 2.5 hours there that morning and got nothing but a drum. Loaded up and went to a creek I know that has always been dependable and spent the rest of my day there and finally managed to land 2 bass both were 16” giving me 32” on the day. I was fairly upset with my day to say the least but sometimes a good plan can fall apart. I ended up finished 23rd out of 69 anglers. So I guess I wasn’t the only one that struggled. We had 7 people catch a limit. 96.75” won with big bass of the day being 21.75” Next event will be at Possum Kingdom lake in June. Should be fun fishing a super clear water lake. Here is my video from how my day went down. I’ll post my 2 fish in another post below.
