FYI: Went back after work. Able to land three more Trout to complete a daily limit. Fishing partner also caught a limit. Ended the trip with eight.

Early start this morning made for a limit of five Trout at Bethany Lakes. Fished Bread using a bobber and setting the depth at 3'-4'. Also, flyfished and caught one but may have thought it was striking at Bread. See picture and details.

Went to Bethany lakes yesterday evening. Caught 4, lost 3 & had about a dozen other hits & misses. Gold SuperDuper & chartreuse Gulp crappie nibbles (couldn't find any gulp specifically for trout in the area).

Does anyone know any place around corpus christi to catch a bass or two.

Nope...never been..although if I were that close to the shore I would be fishing saltwater..way more fun!!!

The Trout are still at Bethany Lakes and are biting despite the cold morning. Temperature was 23 degrees with a windchill of 9 degrees. Able to take a limit using Bread on flyfishing gear. See Today's Pictures/Details.

I heard that cold weather is actually when Trout thrive the most!!

Nice fish!. Looks like an 11 incher or two. My brother is an expert trout fisherman and says they do love the cold weather.

So the Bethany Lakes trout had a marshmellow feast at my expense yesterday. The wind kept blowing my line which made it hard to see if they were biting. It finally calmed down for a few minutes and I quickly took the last two to complete my limit. There still seems to be plenty out there.

Trout are still out there. Fished Bethany Lakes this afternoon. Still cold but wind was light compared to yesterday. Caught a limit of Trout freelining Bread for bait.

Interesting find today! Checked the stomach contents - Yellow Powerbait Corn Nuggets including one with a hook embedded, the usual Bread as expected, and a Rock. Today's Pictures!

PS: Made a last minute quick trip this evening to Bethany Lakes. Landed one Trout despite the misty and cold weather. See Picture/Details.

Clear and cold with below freezing temperatures this morning at Bethany. Fished a Super Duper with no success. None on a Super Duper!

Fished Bethany Lakes this evening. Caught one Trout and lost another. Also, caught and released a large Bluegill that went just over 9" in size. Pretty nice fight on light tackle. See Picture.

I think I've going to give this little pond a shot during lunch today being that it is just down the street.

All I had with me today was a crappie jig... only caught a fish stick.

A couple older guys over on the concrete thingy were tearing the trout up though.

Think I'll try again later this week.

Back to Bethany Lakes for Trout this evening. Caught two Trout but overall action has slowed. Today's Catch.

Fished Bethany Creek Park Pond and Bethany Lakes. Caught a small Bass, Sunfish, and Bluegill. No Trout today not even a nibble. Today's Catch/Details.

FYI: Updated summary of lures/baits used for Trout is posted. Results indicate a slowdown at Bethany Lakes since its stocking on 12 December. Bob Jones remains promising with reports of larger sized Trout being stocked recently. Greenbriar continues to receive periodic stockings but action quickly tapers off; best to fish the location the day of stocking or soon after a stocking. Updated Summary 1/3/09.

Cold and windy at Bethany Lakes this evening. Flyfished with no luck on Trout. Managed to hook and land Sunfish. Fish were about 6" in size. Today's Catch.

Made a quick trip to Celebration Park's North Pond for Bluegill/Sunfish. Saw enough action to stay ready for light striking Trout. Cross our fingers we will be able to test our reflexes on Trout at other locations in the area in the near future. Today's Catch - Small but Scrappy!.
