The TFF Matchplay is in need..... We need some new Teams as well as the old ones to get back into it. Right now the very enjoyable tourney trail is at risk of becoming extinct. We are looking at the chance of Starting this in July or even August so that most can still follow thier normal trails without interuption. This is an excellent way to meet new Forum Members as well as Make some new Friends on the water. I can tell you from my own personal experience that your chatting on this website will be much more enhanced once you have met some of the guys that you are chatting with. There are so many posters on this board that I have now met and am honored to call my friends thanks to the TFF Matchplay......

I don't think this thing needs to be limited to Dallas, but we need to figure out how to have a number of satellite divisions that can compete in thier own areas, then marry it together at the end of the year with one big divisional fish-off. I know it can be done, but we need some folks who willing to devote some time to brainstorming and putting something together. I can keep score, if need be, as long as everyone sends me the results of the various matches. My biggest drawback is my location prohibits me from collecting entry fees (if you guys truly want a pot at the end of the season). So we need some volunteers to kind of run, and play, the matchplay in the various areas. I will make this sticky this thread for a few days to see how many folks are interested. Please go to the TFF Match Play discussion section down in the Tournament section and jump into the conversation. Thanks guys (this baby was my brainchild a couple of years ago, and I'm not willing to see it fall apart without some effort).

Hey Jody, I would be willing to meat with a few "captains" to see what we could come up with that will help those in differents areas compete. I would also be open to starting a page on our website (it would be easier to use our program to keep score and put a link in the matchplay section). Let me know what you want to do.

Bob and Donny, I am also willing to do anything I can but we need to find a way to get our numbers up first.. We might think about using cameras when we fish and maybe even be able to compete with those out of town by each fishing thier home lake and posting pictures of the best 5 on a measuring board or something like that. Only problem with that is the face to face experience will be lost.

I'll help anyway I can to get the next season off the ground. TFF MatchPlay is a great concept and and inexpensive way to fish Tournament. Plus with gas soaring out of control, this TFF MatchPlay turns into a great way to fish for little gas money and entry money and a great way to meet other fellow TFF'ers..... Pics from last years meeting to start the 2007 Season: Bob Smith, Chad Kellner, Rmax and RedRanger.....

That pic was taken before we kicked off the matchplay last year. Is'nt it funny that Elite and Sweeeet was right behind the money from the first and all the way to the last tournament...
This is a great way to meet some people that like to fish. Last year we went all the way to Amistad to have a match and it was a blast.

Mattman, I hope you can get something together.. You might get with that riverslung gang and see about getting at least 4 teams of 3 squads. I think this is what we will have to go to for this to work. I am thinking 6 man/women teams @ 100 per man/woman. Try to make at least 4 tourneys and this is just 25.00 per tourney and still adds quite a bit to the main pot so that we can keep the interest up. We might even pay a 3rd place team so have 3 teams show up for the Championship. I would love to see some of you guys in Lubbock / Midland area put together 4 teams then we get 4 team in Dallas and this thing will be a blast and scheduling will not be that much trouble.

Hey Bob, I'll bring it up at the club meeting tonight and see if any of the guys are interested in getting in to this. we have a few in the club that do belong to the TFF. I'll see if I can get a whole team out of it or maybe just a partial. I just don't think I am going to have time to do it again this year. Mama said we are going to spend a whole lot of time in Port A this summer and that is Hampering my schedule a lot. I'll see what I can do at the meeting. Mike

I am trying to figure out how this match play works . You build a team of ten and your team against another and is kind of playoff system or what.

Guy's I'll chime in here for the cause. I've fished Match Play for two seasons, and made some very good friends thru this format.
Match play is more than just winning or losing the Matches, there will be a ton of trash talking and boasting prior to matches all in fun of course. You'll meet people on this forum you would normally never meet.
Bob, Chad and Jody will make sure you enjoy the competition where ever you live or fish.
I liked the earlier season we had the first year that started in March and was over in July.. The heat last year was a whipp'n..

2 things here. And they both can be decided on by captains in our first meeting..
1. A Squad is 3 teams of 2 fisherpersons (important to not forget the ladies) (I hope some of our young ladies of the TFF will form a squad). Last year we did 5 teams of two per squad but I think it will be easier with just 3 teams per squad.
2. MatchPlay: TFF Matchplay was started 2 years ago by Bob Smith and I am sure a few others but Bob is the Father of Matchplay (I think RedRanger is the mother LOL). It started by just average I'm better than you smack talking. They formed I think just 6 Squads of 5 teams each and then took all the teams and macthed them up in individual tourneys (2 boats on the lake). You fished against the other team and the winner got 3 points and the loser got 1 point. These points go back to the Squad and after each team had fished 6 tourneys each the 2 Squads that had the most points accumulated fished against each other (10 boats on the water) to determine the winners of Matchplay. For 2 Years Team Sweet won and I think Team Elite was 2nd both times.
How were the matches fished? Matchplay went for 6 months so you had 1 tourney per month. You checked the file to find your opponents for that month and then you called them and hashed out a time and lake to compete (the only rule on this was that the Tourney had to be at least 4 hours long). Some were fished on the weekends while others were fished during the week just whatever could be done.
I hope I have explained how this works enough for everyone to understand. Now lets get some Squads started....
Jody
