Got two for ya...for upscale try Gumbo's right off of I35 and west on 620 about 1 block. It is up on a little bluff on your right.

The other is good ol' downhome sit at picnic table style eatin poboys and gumbo. It is Sambet's on 183 @ spicewood springs. It is tucked in the back of a rundown strip center anchored by a Biglots. Best muffaletta in town.

Gumbo's is really REALLY proud of their food!Pappadeaux's is ok.But for REAL cajun food,go to KG's off 2410 in Harker Heights. The adress is 1612 east FM 2410 (254)-698-3456.Its so far out of the city limits, and so original, you'll think you're actually back on the bayou.

No,it's quite a ways from there. It's just east of Ft.Hood.From Austin, take 35 north to Belton. Then west on 190 to the 2410 exit in Harker Heights. Then go left on 2410 about 5-6 miles out into the country. You'll see it on your right.Talkin bout down home. This is the real deal.
