so what's the latest on the draw down, is that why you guys are in aluminum boats? Are the ramps out?
Sorry for the dumb questions, but I don't follow LA all that much, even though I probably should...lol.

All the ramps are out of the water. It's john boats and canoes or kayaks dragged across the mud bank to the water. But well worth the effort as you can tell. Drawdown is until sometime in February.

I love it when the lake is low like that. I had a friend whose house was in that little cove across the lake from Hulahut. There was hole next to the cliff that had all these crappie and bass trapped in there when the water was down. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. Less water means less of a water column to find those fish.

BOAT is a 12- foot Port-A Boat with a 17lb thrust trolling motor...with three grown men...
Eric called me this evening with this report:
Fished on Friday afternoon for a few hours
We had two 6+'s ( do not even take pics of them anymore )
Two 7's one was just shy of 8.
and I lost the TOAD of the day. 8 - 10 lbs EASY... Right at the boat after a lot of line stripping, she just spit the bait out. Right in front of our eyes.
Oh well. Going to take off the weekend and recover.
Andy has some pics of the two big 7's and of course I filmed them too.
Also really bummed that HHJ could not hook into one. ( Sorry about that Charlie)
Still plenty of time left for that DD.
EA
PS. Saw Cajun Drew out there, he caught a 9 right before we spoke to him.

Another big stringer of bass caught on Satuday, by some anglers.
" FISHED MID-LAKE TODAY. WE LAUNCHED AT 8:30 AND STARTED THROWING CRANKS. THE DAY STARTED SLOW WITH ONLY A FEW CHUNKS THE FIRST HOUR. aFTER SEARCHING FOR A LITTLE BIT WE CAME ACROOS THEM. WE WERE DOUBLING UP QUITE OFTEN. IN ONE 15FT SPAN WE CAUGHT 5 BASS. THIS BY FAR WAS MY BEST DAY ON AUSTIN YET. NITRO27 HAD A 6.9 AND A 8.9 BEFORE I HAD ANY OVER 4. NOT LONG AFTER, I PULLED THE 9 AND A 5. OUR BEST FIVE WENT 35.11LBS. THEY WERE 9.00,8.9,6.9,6.0,5.9. ALL IN ALL WE CAUGHT AROUND 40 FISH WITH ONLY 5 UNDER 3LBS. "

It's on fire for all species...
LSCB angler Jason recently landed a 70lb, 8oz Smallmouth Buffalo from Lake Austin! Even cooler, a guy named Peter, from Holland was there...writing an article all about buffalo and carp fishing in America for European Carp Angling magazines!

I remember last year someone catching a sharelunker right off the porch of Hula Hut. That 12 pounder is awesome!
