I fish it just about once a week and alot of other people even more often. Great banks access all the way around the lake. Good fishing when they turn on. I have not had much luck here of late, but cant wait for spring.

try the creeks for crappie! Tons of them, also try fishing for catfish at the mouth of the creek. Good current equals good catfish

B.Payne, check out the thread by Lovfldx "Potentially serious situation ..." . This post is several down from yours. You need to be careful if you are going to try fishing White Rock Creek, especially if you are alone.

Jesse - Throw the shad theory out. I saw a huge cloud of them when I was back in there yesterday afternoon.

The lake was dredged in the late nineties, they produced an AVERAGE depth of eight to nine feet. The deepest water is in front of the dam about 100 yards 24 to 26 feet, slowly slopes to around 12 to 14 feet in the main body of the lake which typically slopes gradually to the bank. At the north end of the lake wwere most dredgeing occured there is a distinct break line about 150 feet off shore gooes from from 2 to 3 feet to 8 feet in an almost vertical break line, some erosion has occured since the dredgeing was completed.

All the material was piped down the trinity basin to some old gravel pits.

So how does the recent cold weather affect catfish fishing?
Hopefully I can get out to the lake and wet a hook now that hunting season is over and we have some time before the "redfish run" in April.

I am heading down to a spot that a co-worker of my girlfriend fishes at for some catfish action later today (1-28-08) and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with the bottom-feeders at the mouth of the creek? I would think that with changing current and structure conditions, the fish would have a decent chance of concentrating on areas like that.
If I don't get a reply, or a bite at the first stop, I will probably head over to the Mockingbird bridge to give it a shot.
I spent all evening making bait and preparing for my first outing after hunting season.
Here is what the chef cooked up!

BBQ Parmesean Dough Balls
Garlic & Strawberry Chicken Liver dip bait (gotta go get some sponge hooks!)
Garlic hot dog weenies
Garlic hot dog weenies soaked in strawberry soda (gotta have some color!)
Onion Chicken Livers

I hope these home brewed creations work at White Rock...I know they sure do out in the country!
Lets see how "city-fishing" works out tomorrow1

I didnt make it out today. The wheather man lied again!
So much for "partially sunny skies with a high of 70"!]
I have been waiting for today's projected wheather for 5 days and was very dissapointed to wake up to sprinkles...
Hopefully tomorrow 1-29-07 will fare better. It is supposed to be ok early with a cold front and wind coming in around noon.
I drive either a blue Ford Focus or a big black F250 cargo van with my company's logo on the side.
I will park either at the Bath House area for Catfish or by the Mockingbird bridge if there is room for 2nd chance catfish and/or panfish/bass.
