I went fishing for catfish on ray roberts this past monday. I dindt get on the water until 1pm. We fished under the turkey roost in water from 4ft to 20ft. I caught 1 channel cat in 5ft of water. That was it. I was wondering if i got on the water too late. Is it better to fish for catfish under the roost in the mourning or the afternoon. Please someone give me some insight on when to go after these cats.

I'd say morning. The catfish feed off of what the birds don't digest... once they leave the roost so does the food.

I fish all day ...for them ...try moving out to the nearest channel or change in water dept.....look for roost with birds on them....they will fly away when you approach the roost but the fish will be there.....from what I have seen the cats are feeding on what the birds have digested....they feed on the bird poop.... also look for the nearest cover from the roost if it is a lone tree look for grass, logs, or stick ups...

75Ranger--
We fished RR on Tuesday from about 1000 until 230--Caught and released 84 channel cat (didn't feel like clean'n'em)--Fished the old river channel in about 35' of water (baited holes, soured maize)--All caught on DK's punch bait (very few small fish, but up to about 4 1/2 lbs, lots of good eaters)--Good consistent action all day, left'em bitin'--
Good fishin' and good luck--

I just fish deeper later in the day. It works most of the time, but then TB is crammed full of catfish.
