DOES ANYONE KNOW IF YOU CAN PLUG THE CARD INTO YOUR COMPUTER AND LOOK AT THE MAPS ON IT OR PRINT THEM OFF. I KNOW THAT YOU CAN'T TRY TO COPY IT, BUT WOULD LIKE TO LOOK AT THE LAKES BEFORE GOING.

you will need to purchase navplanner, this will allow you to plug in your card to your computer, you can get them from cabelas or bass pro shops

DON'T DO IT!!!!It will destroy the card if you do. You need to purchase Nav Planner to do this.

Navplanner will allow you to view the mapping software on your PC. I havent tried printing anything. but I do know you can do a screen save and print out the screen image. so it "should" be possible.

what's the main difference in the 07 and 08 card?
is it worth buying if your only fishing local lakes?

added features including creek channels (purple lines that signify where they run), some added HD contour lakes.. I believe its a lot different. I dont have the old 07 chip anymore, but i did notice a difference even in local area lakes. the staffers give input on lake discrepencies and they are adjusted.

08 chip is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the 07. Just sent my 07 back for the rebate. Much more detail on Lewisville and Ray Roberts. I would say that on these two lakes now they are 90% complete.

The easiest way to read the maP is to buy a mmc/sd card reader from Lowrance or Walmart. Don't get the 2.0 version . It will not read the maps. Go to the Lowrance website download a 332C emulator-- I'm not sure that it will read on the newer ones. It would never read on the 25C emulator. That will read both Lowrance and Navionics and you won't have to spend the $150 for the Nav Planner.

Btw-- You can't print any off them, but you can buy some of the maps.

one's approved for use by Navionics... and one's not. YOu need the software to go with the hardware.

Bob, you're right on! the 08 chip rocks! I had the 06, then 07, and the HD 08 has much more detail, especially the lakes north of hear. Roberts still isn't 100%, but it's got 95% of what I fish anyway.

your unit doesnt have to be HD.. Falcon will show up. the lake maps are in HD format, and that refers to the 1' contour lines.. (not like : regular tv vs. HD TV.)

what is the difference in the Naviplanner and just using a serial PC data cable, specifically the Lowrance PC-D17? Would I be able to add waypoints using this cable?

i dont know about the lowrance unit. I would think if you have a serial cable to the PC, you should be able to access your waypoints.?? need a lowrance guy on that one.

the navplanner is a seperate program you load on your computer to work in conjunction with a SD card drive capable of holding 2 SD cards. One is your SD card to read/write to... the other is the map chip that is just READ only.

I used my 08 chip today to follow a railroad track and found a couple humps with fish on them. I didnt fish it, but had fun looking for them. TOO COLD FOR ME! found an underwater bridge too. these maps are very helpful.
