C'mon, now there's a ton of em out there! My votes go to:

the roadside baitshop/deli/gas station in New Peoria, between Hillsboro and Whitney. Got Lemon meringue and coconut creme pies that would put your granma to shame!

The diner at Twin Oaks Cove on 287 on Richland Chambers! Man, the apple, in season peach, the lemon meringue and coconut and banana, and chocolate pies will bring tears of joy to your eyes!!!!!!!!!

SOME KINDA GOOD!

The locally grown cherries, and apples used in the pies sold at the General Store on the main drag in Cloudcroft New Mexico will inspire you to stop at the roadside stands in High Rolls, NM on the way back to Alamogordo and buy a case of apples and a few baskets of cherries!! SON, YOU CAN FEEL THE CALORIES ACCUMULATE JUST THINKING ABOUT EM!

One word of caution while you are in the General Store in cloudcroft buying your pies though, DO NOT CAST A GLANCE TOWARDS THE BIGGEST, MOST BEAUTIFUL, MOST DELICIOUS HAND MADE KILLER CINNAMON ROLLS YOU HAVE EVER SEEN, OR YOU WILL PUT ON AT LEAST 5 LBS BEFORE YOU EVEN MAKE IT OUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!

WHAT A WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!

Hands down....The Koffee Kup up 281 between Stephenville and Hamilton in Hico. They make a Strawberry pie that makes you forget about everything else! All their meringue pies are piled really high. Great place and the best pies I've ever had!

Mountain Top Mercantile Cloudcroft, NM

The pies come out of the oven every day at 11:00 am. I made the mistake of being in the store one day at 11:00 am. My life has not been the same since. lol

I always stop at Franks in Schulenburg on I-10 when I'm going to SA for a great piece of pie.....I'm told that a lady bakes them daily at her house and brings them to the diner. Every now and then I will stop on a return trip and bring one home.

Mountain top might be the place i wrote about, couldn't remember the name, but it's right on the main drag is basically a general store and has a bench by the front door where you can sit with your coffee, your pie or cinnamon roll, and watch the world go by, in that crisp pine scented air of the Sacramento Mountains!!

And the view in virtually every direction is gorgeous!

Rudy

Forgot about Koffee Kup.Been there, not bad, but Twin Oaks, man those meringue pies ,WHOA!!!!!!!!!!1

When you come down the mountain into Alamogordo, stop in to Pepper's Restaurant and get the world's best stacked red enchiladas. Hands down no other's equal the goodness.
