I went to the super secret mirror pond today with my buddy KC and met up with Zach and Mike there. It was fairly windy but nice and warm compared to previous sessions. Had a nice run but lost it due to a broken leader. My next run I could tell after my Texas Whip hookset was a nice one. Zach grabbed the net and after seeing it surface about 25 yards out he yelled out "16lbs!". I ended up pulling it in fairly easy and came up with a first and new personal best Mirror carp - 16#4oz Thanks to Zach for the awesome pictures as well.

My buddy KC also broke his blanking streak with a 9#5oz PB channel cat he caught on a rig made up by zach

It was nice meeting you Zach and Mike and had a great time today

Technically no Jason, a linear would have one single row of scales down the lateral line and no scales anywhere else.

Grats on the fish guys \:\)

I blanked! That's what I do best! LOL I'm very good at looking official with all of my fancy equipment, but don't catch fish.

I had one run that I didn't get a hookset on and another nagging "fish" that would consistently cause my hanger to fall an inch or two then slowly rise, but never got a run out of it.

It was great to finally meet KC, Scott and Zach and to see that awesome fish Scott caught. Blanking always sucks, but it sucks a little less when you get to hang out with some cool people!

FYI- the fish was caught on a 25mm Rosehip Isotonic boilie. For pond fish not liking boilies I sure have been catching some nice ones with them ;\)

thanks guys

Awesome fish, Scott.

I blanked at Benbrook today. I think ponds are a more reliable option for winter carp fishing.

BTW, that small John Deere in the background is what Scott now uses to bank his fish and carry them to the unhooking mat! ;\)

haha, that little tractor was bad azz. The father came up after I cast a pva bag and was asking about it when my middle rod alarm went off and he got the see the whole landing and photographing of the mirror. I didn't realize I had a crowd around me until KC mentioned it later, I guess I was in a daze about my catching my first mirror

Congratulations on the new PB!!! Since I have very little knowledge about carp fishing, could you tell me approximately what percentage of the carp population in Texas are of the "Mirror" variety? From the pics, it looks like they have very few scales on their sides. Is that true? Is the fish in the pics typical of the Mirror varitey? Unusual, but I find them a very colorful & pretty fish. Is this trait consistently passed on from generation to generation?

Again, Congratulations on a great catch,
Regards, & Good Fishin',
LlindeX
