We went to Falcon for a week beginning Dec 27th. Picked up a 2008 Navionics chip specifically for the trip. Got down there and it didn't work.

Got back to the house yesterday and checked the FAQ's on Navionics website today which said to check the electronics website for software updates. Sure enough, Eagle released an update on 12/20/07. I downloaded it and updated my unit's software. I assume that was my problem. I won't be sure until I can get back out on the lake. Unfortunately, I won't get to try it on Falcon anytime soon.

Thought I'd pass along my experience for those planning on getting the new chip. Make sure you've got the latest software updates on your unit.

You should not need the update for it to work. You might have gotten a bad one. You also dont have to be at the lake to check it.
