So, I'm sitting here, eating dinner, and I got to wondering, what do you prefer to take with you to eat during long sessions?

Since this is the LSCB, alcohol is a given and does not count as food...

As of this week, All of my eating* will be done via my jetboil.

dried soups, and dried meals all from the awesomeness of my 1 liter of boiling water.

less clutter, less mess, and simple.

*This does not include the trips where I plan on cooking catfish or sunnies on the bank.

Mostly sandwhiches, and fruit.

Also, cold pizza and fried chicken are great.

If we have the ability to catch and cook catfish or sunfish or anything else, they're always great.

I once made a killer shrimp curry, right Bret?

And had a killer chicken curry courtesy of Paul.

No, this was definitely not Chili lol.

It was shrimp, onions, garlic, and large cut jalepenos...and curry sauce/curry spices. That was it hehe.

It was great...but quite spicy.

Though Chili is a great idea too.

Most of my sessions are short, so I toss a couple cans of soda/pop/cola/Coke, some fruit, and some salty snacks into a small cooler; no need to mess with cookin'.

If I can have a fire, brats are good, especially when I have Donny around to rescue them from the fire.

Beef jerky and sandwiches are my staples, as are Mini Muffins for breakfast. I also like cheese and crackers and other snacks.

"The sausages are burning, the sausages are burning!"

"Donny! ...Your sausages are on fire! ...AGAIN!"

Krista, last [censored] trip...Donny's brats lit on fire again...and Jeff speared one with a knife and held it aloft, and fire was dripping off it and flying away into the night.

If I remember correctly, we got Mark to get those brats on his way in. Then we but them on the fire. Then we started burning stuff. I can't remember what we threw on the fire at that point, but it went crazy and started burning those brats. I even think one or two fell off the grill and into the fire, but Donny saved them.

That was one heck of a trip.

Yeah, last JA trip, me and Donny burned even more stuff...

We didn't burn a chair that time, but we did burn more shoes, and a catfish carcass filled with lighter fluid...

Short sessions - foodless but lots of diet coke

Long sessions - Bacon + bread for morning sandwiches, lots of coffee and then normally tinned soups, curries and even pot noodles (or whatever they're called over here) .... one thing in the coolbox will be some chocolate of some description, I need my sugar buzz after being woken for the umpteenth time in a night.

Go fishing with someone with a high metabolism like Zach. He get's hungry before I do. Send him to Sonic for food.

or

Prepare things like curry at home and then seal in a bag. Just boil in the bag while on the bank. Tastes even better than when it was first made.

Yeah...in the winter, when it's cold enough at night that you WANT a fire...you tend to drink even more alcohol then usual to "stay warm"...then you start to do things that are....not so smart.

All of you have proven why those who have fished long secessions with me comment on the food more than the fish.

I bring the kitchen with me. I do curries, pot roasts, steaks, pork chops, baked potatoes, veggies, big pots of ham/corn chowder or beef barley soup. Breakfast consists of breakfast tacos or french toast with lots of bacon. Sometimes evan a propper English mixed grill fry up.

On the bank, expecially in the winter, hot, warming, high energy foods are the way to go.
