Me and Tracy have been talking about having a regular tournament series either at the barge or a few lakes around the area. if we do the barge it would be the same rules as the club before it there which was the lewisville carp & buffalo club or if we did the random lakes we can do it atc style draw for pegs and such. right now i want to try to get a head count of people who would be interested and available in having a regular tournament series

If its during the summer and I can get a job, I might do it.

Let me know if this works out for you. If you can get enough people interested, & my business picks up a little, I might be able to help out by sponsoring a few events in some way.

well right now i am a poor college student in denton but when august comes im moving back home i would like to try it or start it in the summer but i want to get about 10 to 15 people in it. Llindex that would be excellent if you could do that. but if we were to do these tournaments we could have it at the barge like i said but i see how it restricts people from fishing the way they want to fish i honestly want to do it at random lakes its just that i have a 1 ton silverado and its hard on me on gas but ill try. A few lakes have been thrown around at me in the last few weeks and those are Lewisville (i dont know where we would have it), Grapevine (obviously Murell), Ray Hubbard (also dont know where) and Ray Roberts(no idea where). Please chime in on ideas cause i want to get this up and running around summer

i'd be in and as you know the Carp Brigade does this kind of thing I lot. We'd love to have more of the Lville crew participate. count me in and let me know how I can help.

i did not know that ssf thank you. im trying to set it up since a couple of years ago our club at the lewisville barge disbanded due to new jobs and such and people leaving for college. Me and tracy miss the taste of competition and i dont have the money to go to austin and fish. i also have no euro equipment but if anyone can help out with a sling and all such weighing equipment that would be great and i count 7 people so far id rather have 15 so just in case people cant make it we can still have a tourney. I will work on a rule sheet and such but i need people to tell me if they would rather have the barge or random lakes

Speaking of which, has there been a consensus on a schedule for tournaments this spring? I'm game for organizing another event at Ghostie.

Sounds like the tournament committee needs to get together for a beer to talk it over.

I'd say random lakes cuz barge fishing is fun but different venues is more fun . Unless you plan on hitting all the different barges like Lewisville, Benbrook, Joe Pool

i really dont want to go too high on entry fees ill say around 25 for entry and then everyone who wants can put in 5 dollars for big fish, big buff or big shad(only at the barge) i was hoping maybe two at grapevine in the summer while the bite is hot but the weather is to.

I hope your kidding cuz if not you will be highly unwelcome. I personally have issues with people who kill fish for fun and do not utilize the fish. I will gladly let you know my feelings and have no problem doing so

My slips on Hubbard can accomodate 10 people. And bowfishers can't reach depths of 27 feet.

It took me almost 15 months to reach 1,300 posts. It took you less than 3 months. Do you think you might have some issues?

Oh wait. He posts in the commode hole called "Off Topic." That splains everything.

Back on topic...

Is Cedar Creek too far for you guys? I know that it doesn't have any real records listed on it, but it has produced some nice mirrors in the past and even has a record for bigmouth buffalo.

True...it takes about 2 hrs to get to my parents' house in Springtown from Athens.

If I were still in DFW, I'd probably try and make most of them, but I have trouble getting out as it is, so I don't know about going up for just a 1 day event.

Marine Creek will produce, but it's mostly fish in the 6 lb range. Lake Worth didn't produce a thing during a fish in a while back, but it's bound to produce some nice fish at some point. I think Eagle Mountain would be nice, but there is virtually NO bank space.

Weatherford is said to be full of grassers, and there's always Benbrook.

If Bret threw his Ghostie tourney into the mix, you could get quality venues from both sides of the metromess.

Well, since I've never fished a barge, I wouldn't have any clue as to what lakes (other than the ones mentioned already) have them.

I'm up for a tourney - I only did the ghostie tourney, but that was a good time.

Since I've never fished LLELA - how about a bring your trash bag/carp tourney there?

Some of the guys can attest to the fact that I never studied and I was usually fishing when I should have been focusing on school. I also know about the money problem. That was most of the reason why I didn't get out much last year!

why not keep the tournaments at a free venue to cut down on cost for everyone. there are plenty of excellant locations not too far from denton that can be fished and also we don't run the risk of losing fish to piers and whatnot. for instance all the ponds off luna rd, syndicate, reading, or some of the under fished lakes like white rock, mountain creek, marine creek, and lake worth. we would also be able to spread out a bit.

Nice thread going on here. Sorry I have been away. I have been working like crazy here lately. I just recently screwed my back up again lol. I have a bad disk. We can have this at all the area lakes around here. We can take turns organizing this when one isnt available another can be. Hopefully im back in action after this weekend.
