If it were me, I would look at a Lowrance X510C. It has 480 x 480 resolution, but is sonar only. For a combo unit, I'd go with the LMS522C.It is also 480 x 480 and if you already have a LGC2000 or 3000 at the console, you can network the bow unit to it for GPS reception.

Go with the combo unit but save the dough and buy it without the GPS antennae, network it to your console unit.

I like having the GPS feature on the front. With maping software, it makes it much easier to stay on top of a hump, ridge line, drop off, brush pile, etc. And you can throw away your markers, or give them to Redifn. With the GPS you can create a wavepoint with one touch of the button and then have that spot marked at a place that only you can see (on your unit).

My problem with networking is you need two map chips if you want the same contour or keep swapping the one chip out between your two units. I'm still thinking about networking the two solely to use one gps puck though.

Combo unit networked to use only transom transducer. So all you would have to do is buy a head unit if you already have NMEA network. Thats what I want to do next in my boat. I had thought about doing this, but the problem is, is that I have a 22' boat and if my bow unit is using the console unit's transducer (transom mounted at rear), then I'll be seeing fish that are 20' behind me. Or, if I were sitting directly over a drop off, I wouldn't know the actual depth below me, therefore I could be fishing to shallow or deep, depending on the boats orientation to the drop off. Now, I could do the math in my head and add or deduct for the length of my boat against the angle of the drop off, but that is way to much math for my pea sized brain

Let me see, striper guide flails the water with a rod to stimulate the fishing, but a 200khz transducer is bothering the fish??

I already spent my $ at BPS yesterday, oh well. So anyone needing an extra 10% off coupon PM me your address and I'll drop it in the mail for ya.
**The coupon is only for a single item purchase less than $1500 and good only from Jan 11 -20. **
Also, the 2007 navionics is listed at $149 but the service rep behind the counter will mark it down to $99 if you ask him since the 2008 is already out.
