Well, the Carp have been slow, but some nice fish have been caught. yesterday BaitBoat Charllie caught a 62# Buff. Scott caught a 41 and 36 Buff. Keith Melrose caught a 35#10oz Buff. Neil established a PB Grasser with his first ever- 17#. This morning I woke up to a new PB Grassie-36#8oz and at the same time Scott had a 27#5oz Buff. No Carp yet, but good-sized fish when we get 'em.

I've landed 3 fish in '08 and each of them is a new PB.
After I made the post about the 2, one of my alarms went off and I caught the third PB.
(2 of them, while significant as PB's, are of peripheral species- Incidental like the Bass I got last time.)

I'm going with catfish, then. I'm bored, so my guess is a 20+ lb blue and a 15 lb channel.

The second PB happened like this:
Everyone else had left so I was getting ready for the cold that I'm going to have to deal with tonight. While I was moving around doing all this stuff, I felt the urge to go to the bathroom. This was not a "bring in the lines and mosey up to the head" urge, this was a "stop wh%t you're doin' 'cause I'm about toruin the image and the style that you're used to" urge.
I grabbed my remotes, hoppped in the truck, and motored up to the junior restroom by the water supply stuff. As I walked briskly into the potty, I had my alarms and phone in my hand and went to set the down, but suddenly one of the alrms sounded! I said aloud, "OH HAYELLLL NO!!".
Nothing was gonna turn this train around.
I continued on with my business; rushing...but not rushing-You know the drill. While I was in the final phase of the operation, the alarm sounded again!! I finished and got the truck and raced back to the campsite.
One of my lines was slack and it was time to rebait, so I began to pull the lines in from that pod. While pulling the third one in, it felt like a fish was on and buried in the weeds. I was pretty excited. When I pulled the fish through the weeds to the near flat, the fish surfaced.!.!.!
It was a Gizzard Shad!! 1#2oz of Pure New PB!! lol
Third was a Blue Cat- 4#4oz.
Hopefully I'll have nore to do later than give the Starless Treatment to a shad capture...

Finally landed a Carp!! About an hour ago my alarm woke me to a 23#10oz Common. When I went to grab my net, it wouldnmt move. I thought it was stuck, but it had frozen to the ground after that last Grasser.

Chad,
Did you stay warm in the tent cot? Yep. I had a sleeping bag on the cot and another I used as my blanket. The moisture inside the tentcot made the walls wet. When the temp dropped, that turned into a thin, solid sheet of ice. It was surreal. Chad

Seriously... Why am I catching all the Commons today? Maybe the buffs had their fill and moved on, so the wimpy little carp moved in to feed on scraps.

To my knowledge, Terry Fishlock was the first CAG member in Texas participating in the FFF to catch a carp on the 1st. At 3:30 pm, he landed this beautiful perfect 20 lb. 3 oz common. Well done Terry!

U 1-11 I think. Maybe up to 14. I don't remember. The electricity is on the posts by where you park your car. I didn't realize it the first time or two that I went, until Donny charged his phone after texting all day.

Chad, Which tentcot are you using? I've not had any moisture buildup in mine as of yet. With / without rainfly? I've slept in mine as low as 25 degrees so far, and no moisture issues. Also, this is your friend: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...0003000_350-3-4it deflated and stays in the tentcot when folded.

Eh, well, I'll just have to use the old tent for now. Or I'll just sleep under the stars. The one thing that I stocked up on when I still worked at Cabela's was UA cold gear and other clothes to keep me warm and toasty.

If you do that, buy one of those mountain sleeping bags rated for -30 degrees hehe, then you can sleep under the stars perfectly comfortable and make fun of all the people freezing in their tents. Lol.

Lol. Yeah but aren't those bags $500 and don't they take several minutes to get out of? I like the idea of electric blankets. lol

I have a decent sleeping bad that I "borrowed" from my dad. When it's cold, I add a blanket or two on top, and I'm perfectly happy. I DO NOT need a sleeping bag that takes minutes to get out of. I'm clumsy enough to struggle out of the one I currently have. When it's raining or sleeting, I'll break out the tent. If I can park my truck close enough to hear my alarms, I can fit my matress pad in the back and can leave the hatch cracked, and it gets toasty in there when it's cold outside. Electric blankets...

And I got out of it with no problem when it was 14 degrees outside and alarms we going off.. And Bret was yelling for his shoes, lmao. Jason, it was a reference to last Feb's trip out to Emma...it was 14 degrees, I was in one of those sleeping bags, under the stars, warm and toasty...and everyone else that had a tent was complaining of the cold... So I had to keep rubbing it in hehehe. That was also when Bret had a fish at first light, and ran out of his tent...without his shoes.

I was fine in the tent in my sleeping bag.
I was hoping it would start sleeting on your sleepingbagged self.
I believe you now own a tent, and I've seen you eyeing my tentcot.
