1 head of cabbage
2 lbs of smoked sausage
6 large potatoes
2 tsps garlic
salt and pepper

Chop cabbage into chunks and boil. Pan fry the smoked sausage. Chop up potatoes into large chunks and boil (throw water out before adding it to the rest). When everything is cooked put it into a large soup pan and add garlic, salt and pepper. Boil a bit.

Love me some cabbage soup. I'll give that one a try for sure!

I would love that, my current room mate gets serious cabbage fever though.

Sounds good. I'll sure give it a try. Thanks....

Reminds me of a fried cabbage recipe my Sister gave me years ago. I'll have to see if I can find it again.....

O.K. then, BigBob....here 'tis:

FRIED CABBAGE

1/4 pound bacon,
2 small heads of cabbage
1 large onion,
salt and pepper to taste

In large skillet, fry bacon. While it is frying, core and cut cabbage into bite size pieces, then chop onion. Add to skillet, frying on medium heat until tender.

Quite simple really, but also very tasty.....enjoy.

My wife does one similar, but uses some soy sauce. Good stuff, thanks!

My variation is using 2 or 3 lbs. of stew meat searing and tenderizing it in all kinds of ingredients, then adding carrots, minced garlic, 2 onions, cumin, chili powder, and of course the cabbage.

One of my favorite side dishes. Especially with a little bit of hot sauce and corn bread. I do it the same except I add a can of rotel tomatoes.

I think that's like a Mexican soup called Caldo?? You can add all kinds of meat big chunks. I've seen it with sausage, roast beef, ham and even brains or something in it.

Yes, it is at least a cousin to caldo soup.
