Temp is reading, depth occasionally works, but mostly it just blinks. Transducer is 2-3 inches underwater, mounted on the back of the boat. I unhooked the connector at the back of the unit, connections looked good. I've done this twice. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

blinking usually means it lost its signal.

does it happen all the time, moving or not?

"2-3 inches underwater" - does that mean it's above the bottom of the boat? if so, it's not in the water when you're on plane. The middle of the transducer puck needs to be even with the bottom of the boat.

how old is it and has it ever worked on this boat?

I took out for the first time in a few months last week. It doesn't work moving or sitting still, but it did suddenly work a couple of times. The unit is about 1 year old. All the functions work fine on the main unit, it'll switch modes, temp reads fine, etc.

One thing, if I turn it on on the trailer shouldn't you be able to hear or feel the transducer "clicking"? I can't.

Thanks!

Yes, you should. I'd check to make sure your cable isn't kinked or broken, clean the contacts to the back of the depth finder too. I'm thinking if you find no kinks or abrasions on the cable, the tranducer is just plain bad. If it's less than a year old or so, Lowrance will send you a replacement under warranty.

Thanks guys, sounds like I need a transducer. It is out of warranty, so I'm gonna just pull out some $$$.

Thanks again,
Murph
