Its time to start my combo hybrid/striper/trophy blue catfish trips. This is a great time to learn winter tactics for blues along with artificial dead sticking techniques for stripers and hybrids. The techniques you will learn will work on all lakes. Now is one of the few times that you can employ both tactics at the same time and catch 40+lb blues and 10lb hybrids or stripers at the same time. Give me a call!

Where will you primarily fish? Tawak?
Makes you feel glad your still young huh.
Yes these trips will be on Tawakoni. I don't know Texoma well enough to charge anyone. Tawakoni may be the only lake in Texas that you can catch all three at the same time. This is one of my favorite times of the year. It seems I just heard that on the radio or something.
Anybody that wants to learn how to catch a big ol' blue at Tawak should give Stripaholic a call. There is not much more fun to be had than reelin' in one of those double digit catfish. You may just pick up a couple of stripers while you are catfishin'. That's what ruined me, I kept catching those stripers on Tawak while I was fishing for blues, and decided I'd learn how to become a striper fisherman.
Stripaholic and NoSweat, I'll see y'all at Texoma in a few weeks. Can't wait.....

Beautiful day on the water today. The big blues did not cooperate today but the hybrids did. Finally found them late in the day in which one drift yielded 6 fat hybrids between 6 and 8 pounds. Man these fish look great this time of year! I wish I could have found these earlier in the day. The water temp has not slowed the fight. Deadsticking bass assassins was the ticket in 25-40'.

Christmas came early for ewilson and I. Right after getting some lines out a 22 lb. blue breaks the ice. So we are like alright theres a start. Then a few minutes later Erich lands an 8 lb. striper on cut shad of all things. Moved up the lake a little ways and things started picking up. 32 lb. blue, then a 23 lb. blue. Things finally slowed enough to get the deadsticking gear out. Pulled a few 4lb hybrids, 7 lb. striper, and couple magnum sandies. Moved out a little with the lake turning to glass. Totally calm. A few minutes later the big one hit. This rod had about 100 yds. of line out and this fish would not budge. I finally worked it back to the boat and down she went. Sulking and not wanting to come up. When she finally came to net we both thought she was over 50lbs. But the scales read 46lbs. All fish were released in excellent condition to fight another day. Here are a few pics....
Life is GOOD!!!

These combo trips have complemented each other well. The days the big blues are slow the hybrids and stripers are on an aggressive bite. And when the blues are biting we don't have time to deadstick. Hybrids are averaging 6lbs with around 10 landed with my last trip with several magnum sandies and stripers mixed in. They are a hoot on light tackle. As our temps continue to drop I suspect the fish will continue to congregate so the fishing should only get better. Tawakoni is great this time of year. Give me a call if you want in on the action.
