The drum will start coming in on the Galveston Beachfront around mid March and will increase as the water gets warmer . Now if you are talking about the BIG BULLS they usually hit around Mid Feb at Texas City Dike

Hi,
MY NAME IS Jerry Rider most people know me as the Okie Noodler. I'm coming to Texas City in mid Feb. for the drum run. Can anyone tell me where is the best place to buy bait?

Thank You
1noodler@msn.com

Buy the way I didn't name the show the producer did. I'm just a fisherman.

Just get some shrimp and peel them. Thread them on the hook like a worm.
Much cheaper...

cheaper, yeah, but not as durable, and all we want to catch are the big boys. Everything that swims in the gulf eats shrimp!

When the big uns are thick this will catch them. You might get lucky and reel in some other fish too. I dont like crab because they costmore and ussually get picked apart instead of eatin by a sizeable fish...

I dont fish for these in Texas. But when I fished for them in Florida we would use clams for bait. And catch MONSTER black drum off the Sebastian Inlet Pier. Bust open the clam, mussle, oyster and slap it on the hook. They cannot resist it. Now for Texas I dont know that they sell them here. Like I said I never really targeted black drum in Texas. But I do catch alot of them while fishing for reds using Menhaden. I promise you if you can find some clams or musles you cannot go wrong for bait with these brutes.

i always liked to use sand crabs. caught them late at night, and put em on a hook the next day. kept em live in an old cooler. Biggest speck I have ever caught was on a sandcrab late one night. I think everything will eat sandcrabs \:\)
