Has anyone had any luck with DOA shrimp? I bought some the other day planning to use it on my next trip to Galveston but was wondering just how good they are supposed to be. Thanks

All the bait we use is DOA. Never had any trouble with using it.

Rig the DOA shrimp about 18" under a popping cork. Watch how SLOW the shrimp falls, like a real shrimp - do this next to the boat first where you can see it in action. When you fish it, make sure you give it time to work. I have hammered reds and specs on DOAs and recently outfished a buddy who was using GULP shrimp under a cork from the same boat. I like the GULP baits too, but DOAs really do work. Good luck.

I've had Trout hit a DOA with an Alameda float on it while fishing the canal lights at night. A lot of times I'll just throw it and let it sit there. The moderate bouncing of the waves gives the shrimp enough movements to entice the Trout. Sometimes the large popping float can scare the Trout. Try everything and see what works. You can throw one and leave it out there while you fish a gulp or some other lure.

we tear them up on DOAs and a popping cork. ive had them work better than live shrimp on many occasions.

yes DOA'S are outstanding. i used them all the gulf and atlantic. while living in florida. trout, snook, redfish, mangrove snapper, jacks, ladyfish, flounder, pretty anything that could swallow it, bite it. the key if using a lite enough mono leader, that the bait can have a natural motion. free-line worked the best for me, never used a cork. good luck and fun fishing
