I was there yesterday and due to my back I couldn't fish. Yes, it was slow, though the guy next to me caught what looked like a 12-15 pounder. That thing was thicker than his leg. Cool thing is I went back at 11PM to see some guys on a river boat with a whole lot of spot lights. They were bow fishing gar and they were having fun!

4 boats, lots of people fishing off TX side, no fish I caught a 5" largemouth and a 12" hybrid and that was it (are the hybrids in the river naturally occuring?). Saw two 18"ish striper caught, but nothing other than that. On the bright side, the weather was today was pretty sweet. ----Hybrid stripers are test tube babies. The fisheries cross a sand bass and a striper in the lab and the outcome is a hybrid striper. You get the fight of a sandbass with the wieght of a striper.

This time of the year, even in Lake Travis we have good luck on the wind blown shore when a norther is blowing. They get up in the surf and bust up shad when the wind blows them in shore.

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if anyone has had luck night fishing at the dam when the water is not running. Any advice/info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! Although I haven't done it much, I have read here and also heard from my friends that they do catch them like that too.
The trick is knowing where the deeper holes are.. Anybody want to give him a spot or two?

Had slightly less luck yesterday - went out by the powerlines, threw jigs, flukes, spoons. . . no luck. Guy next to me caught a few cats and a small striper on skipjacks (dead ones). I had heard you can catch skipjacks with crappie jigs and use them as great live bait for stripers. . I've tried to catch them a few times with crappie jigs, also used sabiki rigs. . but no luck. Anyone had much luck catching skipjacks?

You all need to go down to the coast for some flounders action. Flounders are HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! right now. I rather spend the money and gas go the coast knowing flounder are there than wasting time going to the dam and get no luck. Go and get them while they still there. We kill them on Sunday with 3 person limit in about hour and a half. Couldn't find any Spanish Mac. though
