Is the dam pretty accessible? I mean is it a long walk to get to where you fish from?

Depending if you are on the OKLA or Texas side.
1 minute to 5 minutes walk to fishing hole.

Just turn off your PC, get up, go to your car, drive home, pickup your gears and drive to the DAM.
It is that simple ...................

lets go next week! sometime during the week so no one is there. I got a new bait i want to try. Live EELs!

Ok, I think you were at West Burn Run. That is a very good place to fish in the FALL when North winds is blowing.

Good luck,

I have a question????? Maybe some of you guys have an answer. I am look at selling my Daiwa 12'ft (3-6oz.) and then using that money to purchase a G-loomis 10'6'ft (1-5oz) surf rod. My concern is that I will lose casting distance with the G-Loomis 10'6'ft rod. I am looking for thoughts or insight on this possible decision. Thanks

I had the gloomis surf rod before. It did pretty well until i broke it in half lol.

When I fish up there sometimes I use my 12ft diawa but most of the time I use my 9ft lamiglas rod with a diawa 2500 reel lol. I can cast it just as far as the big rods. but thats fishing with a jig under a 2oz weight.

you should actually gain distance from having a better rod...those surf series load up really well.

The emcast do load well but you pay for it thru fatige. These rods are top heavy and consistence casting will hurt your wrist.

I'd go for the the Team Daiwa TD surf rod. these things load well and cast a MILE!

http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0043140121814a.shtml

Saw a dude with a 11' cast and hit the dam from the ballons at Tawakoni! My jaws dropped! Dude would even have to hold back his spool so that it wouldn't bust his plug!

Some other cheap rods that are light and could cast far are airwaves and ticas

Shakespeare PowerRod...they're cheap, they're surprisingly light, and they got good backbone. I've got one with a Salt Striker 50 series...I can hit the center wall from the TX wall with 3 oz. weight and chunk of shad using 50 lb. Power Pro.

Fishing report: I snuck off from school (Lubbock) for the weekend and went home (Muenster). At the last minute I decided to grab my dam gear to bring along cos I had the bug somethin' awful. Wasn't sure how exactly to go about avoiding the Labor Day weekend crowds, so I picked my uncle up at 2am to head out there (late people leaving, early people not there yet). Got out there to see 2 cars on the whole TX side (above the baitshop anyways) and 3 headlamps on the OK side. Water stank like pond bottom. Was still excited cos we had the wall (generators off) and the hole to ourselves w/ a couple dozen live perch. After 5 drifts through the hole in normal prime striper area produced nothing, I threw my throw net right down where the striper usually hang in the hole when the water's off...not even a shad. We gave it up after that.
