I've never fished with a senko...nor with any plastic for that matter. So, I am not sure as what to do...and how to fish it...can someone help? Only plastic lure I have fished is a Super Fluke jerkbait.

Senko's are versatile baits. I throw mine wieghtless on a Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG hook, texas rigged. This works amazingly well in most situations. As far as fishing it, cast it out and let it sink to the bottom, it will take 20-30 seconds, after it hits bottom(your line will stop falling and remain still) let it sit for about 5 seconds and pick it up slowly using your rod tip. As it sinks I lower the tip and reel in the slack to keep a fairly tight line. When a fish hits it you see or feel one of two things, my favorite is when your line just starts moving to the left or right, your rod tip should be down so pull up quickly and set the hook. The second hit, you will just feel a thump or tap tap tap same thing rare back and rip lips. Now this technique works well most of the time, during the spring time though, they might prefer it wacky rigged. Use a 2/0 wacky hook from Gamakatsu and thread it right through the middle of the worm. Same thing cast it out let it sink to the bottom. Only this time when you pull up give a couple little twitches. Fish will always hit the senko on the fall. I use a 5" senko most of the time, but when the bite gets tough switch to a 4" senko and a 1/0 EWG Gammy hook.

When it is windy I will add a weight or c-rig a senko. Also I have had good luck on a 7inch senko

I fish weightless 90% of the time with a Gammy 3/0 worm hook like jukebox.

Right now redshad and green are still working for me. We are letting them sit on the bottom and reeling them in VERY VERY slow and every now and then twitching them a smidge.

5" is the ticket

... but in all honesty after Rudy showed me the Lake Fork Ring Fry's senkos have taken a backseat. The big ol' bass on Grapevine love them!

I use the Strike King 3X Zero, which is the Strike King Version of the Senko. I can usually catch 10 fish before the bait comes apart. Senkos are generally good for one fish, but I fish them wacky style most often. When fishing Texas style with no weight, you might also consider adding a roofing nail as a "tail weight". When you lift the Senko and let it call, it will float back to the bottom and an angle, which often causes strikes. Good Luck, they are dynamite baits.

Try rigging it weightless like suggested above. Then fish it like a jerk bait. Reel a turn or two, jerk it, let it sink a little, try again.

Also, throw it up in the grass or just up onto the bank in spring then jerk bait it back. This works in spring or on cloudy rainy days anytime.

I never fish a senko weighted, but I'm seeing a lot of people c-rigging them. Sounds like something I should try too.

Good advice so far. There really isn't a way to fish them wrong. In colder water I've fished them on a weighted 3/0 hook and it has paid off more than once.

Try it with 12# Gamma Edge, very strong line the Flourocarbon will absorb water and work as a weight. Work it as slow as you have patience for.
