went into bass pro shop, and bought two castnets for 24 dollars ea , my son also bought a fillet knife i went there to get a cover for my 22 ft blue wave, witch thay had on back order for a month and still wasent in, also spent money on other gear, so i left there and went to academy and got the cover for 98 bucks, then went to sportmens warehouse and seen the same castnets for 15 dollars, in fact looked like a better built net,i called my son over to see prices, he told me dont feel to bad i could have saved more if i would have bought my fillet knife here, anyway i guess it pays to shop, i just took it for granted that bass pro was decent priced but was i fooled, next time im going to shop prices on the inter net before i waste gas going from store to store

PBS seems to have become a tourist trap...
I like Academy much better...

Cabelas is worse than BPS on price. I prefer Academy as well.

I have to agree with y'all. Bass pro had 25% of all zoom products a while back. they still couldn't beat Sportsmans warehouse everyday prices.

My problem with Academy is that their selection sucks. 3 Trick worms you can never find in Academy....Cotton Candy, Tomatoe, and Kudzu....They don't carry Sweat Beaver either. The one that I go to has plenty of crank baits as long as you want the standard brands ...Bandit, Strike King, Storm, Pradco, etc. but they do not even carry any of the more exotics, like Lucky Craft, Sabile, Yozuri, etc. Maybe too many people would steal them, I don't know,

I am a fan of Gander Mountain here in Houston. We do not have Sportsman Warehouse, nor do we have Dick's. Academy is king for every day shopping, otherwise I shop online for the "exotic" bait brands. Gander will match prices also. Best thing to do is befriend a fishing dept manager and give them your business. Next time you need something, ask them and I bet they can get you what you need. Gander is all about breaking out their catalogue to order things.

Sounds like most of ya'll are lucky. Seems there is a Sportsman warehouse, Cabela's, BPS, or others close to you. All we have here is Academy. The drive to the other stores listed is a 2 1/2 to 3 hour or more round trip. So I do on line shopping. I'm in central Tx. Temple-Belton area.

You got a Sportsmans warehouse in Round Rock, it can't be more than 45 minutes from you. Aren't you like an hour from B/CS, they have a Gander now too.
