Hey guys, did anyone see the column in the outdoors section of the Dallas Morning News about the OWR bass? They released them in 3 lakes. One of which was Mill Creek. This is the little lake right behind the Canton, TX Wal-mart on HWY 243. I grew up fishing there and have spent the last 4 or 5 Springs on this little wonderland. They put these in there in the late 90's as well. I have caught some really nice fish there in the last couple years and there is never more than a couple boats on it during the week. It is only about 365 acres and has a lot of grass. If you get a chance, it is a great little lake to escape wind and fishing pressure.

Three small lakes get big stock of fish

Texas Parks and Wildlife hatchery trucks stocked nearly 13,000 Operation World Record bass into three small lakes last week. The fish were stocked at a rate of 3,000 per acre into Meridian State Park Lake, southwest of Dallas; Mill Creek Lake, near Canton; and Raven Lake at Huntsville State Park.

The fish, spawned in the spring, averaged 7.6 inches, the largest OWR fish stocked during the three years of production.

When you go down there you can talk to them about this. They are really excited about the potential. They did a lot of studies before they started stocking those fish. So far they are still optimistic. Unfortunatly they focused on East Texas, not exactly the BEST lakes, but still good research and effort.

They have been stocking Lake Raven with these for years. That is one awesome little lake. I have seen packs of fish cruising none of which were smaller than 24". Something else to see. Helps its completely C&R for bass there.
