i think its a lot easier for the average angler to catch some really nice fish on falcon. you can take your time, pick where you want to fish without going behind 10 other boats scattered along in front of you. without a guide, u can pretty much just pick a cove and start flipping trees or throw a big spinnerbait. the fish on falcon are a lot less pressured. now all this may change next year once the word really gets out. true, you have the chance to catch a giant on fork but falcon is full of big fish too. there were several over 13 lbs caught after the sharelunker program ended.

Must be nce to fish all the lakes you want with the price of gas the way it is and will be.

I personaly hope that my home water has another terible spring... not many here realize that there were 5 13 pound plus fish caught on bead well into may and I personaly saw good fish in the 10 pond range on the bed a week into june. I will probably fish Fork and Amistad early and hit Alanhery hard late in the season. I would love to get a chance at falcon but its just so damn far away.

I think Falcon might be too far for both myself and my buddy.

My goal for the trip is to go with the guide, get better, and have a shot at catching a big ole hawg. I am by no means an expert fisherman.

Does anyone know a guide on Fork? is Amistad man the best one on Amistad? I know I learned a lot from him last time I went.

if u do get a chance to go to falcon, the summer is pretty awesome too. you might even talk to charlie haralson about going over to sugar lake in mexico. if they are still going, that place is just ridiculous.

I think it could not have been said any better if what your intentions were was to rub those less "lucky" folks noses in the fact that some make money from the hardships of others.

Im not talking about the big buisnes types that are making millions of dollars off of 90 dollar oil. I am simply saing that there are alot of good hardworking people from my area right now that are able to put food on the table and maybe have a little extra to enjoy a hoby such as fishing when 15 years ago 60 percent of them were out of work or barly getting by.

I'm not rubbing anything in anyones noses. I'm not a millionaire by any means, but gas will have to get a lot more expensive to keep ME from fishing all the incredible lakes we have in Texas. Maybe your priorities arent the same, but I know mine, and buying gas and diesel just comes with the territory.

I guess we can rationalize anything; "turn about is fair play". Please forgive the expression of frustration with a situation that no one except big business and politicians have any control over. Share your back seat with someone that can't afford to spend grocery money on gas instead of...never mind.
