I have a Garmin fish finder and the water temp and the voltage shows up on the screen, but the depth does'nt and the screen don't show the bottom.could this be a transducer problem or do I need to replace unit. This one is five years old.Maybe time for a color.Any help would be appreciated.

Unlike your wife, I will say go buy a new one. BUT common sense and your wife will ask why you need one at all? She might ask maybe the voltage is the temp and the temp is the depth.

Lets see, if you want depth lower a weighted worm, if you want temp stick your finger in the water.

I am nice and just telling you how MY wife would answer your question. That is also why I am the only one that see's the bank stmt and credit card bills.

Thanks JOF,but my wife actually is my fishing partner. She would go fishing every day.She wants me to buy a color finder, but I don't know if I want one,the old black and white is pretty trusty.

Go look at at the demo. displays of both at Cabelas or Bass Pro. The color can be seen at a much greater angle than the black/white along with the the contrasting colors for better definition. I think you would be very happy with a color unit.
