O.K. then. Wife and I had a discussion today about where the best tacos in the Metroplex were located.

Where do you go for really good tacos?

Thanks............

Where is El Tio? This is the second post lately talking about the place.

I grew up in NRH and Mom still lives there. I would like to try El Tio next time I go over there. I thought that in NRH, the most authentic tacos were at Taco Casa!

I am assuming that you meant North Hills Mall? Not sure what RMS is though.

NHM is already demolished? I will have to drive by there. I remember watching them build that mall. Spent a couple of weeks in North Hill Hospital in the mid 80's and had a wonderful veiw of the mall parking lot from my 4th floor window!

OK... I was thinking that RMS was off of Baker Blvd. Maybe thinking of RES.

Anyway, I know the area and will find it next time I am over there!

2K post deudtion for that one. I've never eaten one from there at 1:30 in the morning, especially without a buzz going.

La Paisa, in the Shell station on Hwy 26 and Mustang in Grapevine. He has 3 or 4 others over in the Harry Hines area of Dallas and just opened a new one in the old DQ on Harwood just west of 121. Great green sauce and nice condiment bar with all the traditional street taco topping options.

24/7 Tacos at Fina in Garland, corner of Miller and Garland Rd. You don't have to be drunk or hungry to eat these.

How bout Taqiera La Paloma. Their bistek taco's with a little contina cheese, hot salsa, and cilantro, and lime juice are the bomb. And only 1.25 if you dont get the cheese.

Jack in the Box must be good...the whole thing deep fried. Many years ago they were running them 3 for $1 and some buddies of mine decided to make a run. There were about a half dozen of them and they are all big boys. Two of them made the trip through to the drive through. Oh forgot " how many do you want? When it was all said and done they decided they could eat 50 of them. Back to the drive through...and knowing their little rack probably holds six at a time. When my buddy ordered he heard a big yell in the background presumeably from the cook that said FIFTY TACOS!!!!!!! Don't know if they got them all or not.

Fuel City, as other's have said, is excellent for traditional tacos. Probably the best I've ever had.

Another very good place in Taco's E Mas on Ross, as well as the one on Samual at Winslow.

For a nontraditional taco I think the brisket tacos at Mia's on Lemmon are the best around.

Two-in-the-morning tacos will always be Jack in the Box, though.

Joe's place on East First in austin used to have the best tacos on the planet! Platter sized tortillas, stuffed to the rafters with picadillo(beef sauteed in a tomato, garlic, onion, cumin seed, salt, pepper salsa ranchera)with an incredibly generous stuffing of steak fries mixed in, all laying on a base of frijoles refritos, the way my mom makes em, topped with a red salsa picante!! Washed down with an ice cold shiner bock, life has a hard time getting better than that!

Chito's tacos on Montana in El Paso!!! OMG, worth a SWA trip out there just for those!

Breakfast tacos: Taco Pronto on Harry Hines in Dallas! The homemade flour tortillas for your tacos are not made for them till the order is placed and delivered to the kitchen. The tortillas by themselves are priceless!!! you can get em with anything you want, My favorite is the fried potatoe/frijoles refritos tacos. Making myself hungry!!

El Tacazo on NW Hwy near Denton Drive, Dallas. Their fajita tacos, with the cebolla adobada, and the grilled whole jalapenos is a culinary treat not to be missed! A dollar a taco and i can eat a dozen at at time, no problem!

El Paisano, Lombardy Lane at Brockbank Dr, Dallas. Pic a taco, any taco, and order!!! You will be back for more!!!!
Cash only!
