Derek,
Sorry I didn't make it to weigh in. Ricky has Staph in his knee and it started to really bother him about 11:30. He held on till about noon and then I had to take him home.

SEPTEMBER 25TH, I FOUND FISH BUNCHED UP IN AN AREA ON STILLHOUSE, A LAKE I HAD NEVER FISHED. I STAYED WITH THOSE FISH ALL MONTH LEADING UP TO THE TOURNEY. I CAUGHT MY 3 KEEPER FISH IN THAT SAME AREA ON OCT 20TH. MY POINT IS, IVE NEVER FISHED WHITNEY IVE HEARD NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT THE LAKE,3 DAYS IS AMPLE TIME TO CHECK IT OUT AND DECIDE.

A couple of weeks ago I was fishing around the island on a Thursday afterrnoon. Real hot september day with not a breath of wind. I heard some splashing up in the trees and when I approched noticed several limb lines hanging from a willow with catfish on them. As I got closer I noticed that one of the limb lines had a huge Great Blue Herin (big gray long neck water bird)caught with the hook through his foot. The closer I got the more the big bird struggled and sounded off. The water he was in was only a few inches deep so I headed my troll motor in that direction gave it a good blast and pulled it up. I drifted into the tree that held the limb with the caught bird. The bird was trying desperately to go the other way, and that was a plus to me (I didn't want that big bill pecking at me). I was able to get a hold of the line and pull it close enough to grab the birds leg. I cut the line and pulled the hook back through the other way to that the eye slipped through the hole. The bird, finally free, hobbled off and onto the island. He went about 50 feet or so, turned around and looked at me, gave a loud caw and ran off into the brush. I left the catfish on their lines so the fisherman could come take them home.

I am going to try out Whitney Saturday. Last time I was there I founf fish way up in the river north of Lakeside Village. But I have talk to one person that told me the smallmouth were biting around the Katy bridge area. Might try the south end of the lake in some old spots.
