For breakfast, Circle Grill in Mesquite..

Buckner, just off I-30..

They also have some really great fried chicken..You can buy a half chicken..one leg, one thigh, one breast, one wing...well you get the idea.

1. Chipotle- best burrito I have ever had. I love the pork and the barbacoa.

2. Red, Hot and Blue BBQ- it reminds of Tennessee which is home. I love the Ramblin' Delat platter. Their pulled pork is beyond words. Best potato salad I have ever eaten and their ribs are pretty good.

3. Texas de Brazil- everyone should go just once. Went earlier this year for my 15th anniversary and it is now the special event choice for my wife and I. Food is awesome and love the atmosphere.

I remember you asking about TdB. Glad that you liked it. Last time we went (fathers day), it wasn't all that good. Hoping that we just caught them on an off day.

I have heard that Fogo de Chao and another one in Grapevine are supposed to be better than TdB. May try them someday.

Fogo De Chao is fantastic . I have not been to Texas De Brazil, but I can tell you, everyone I've talked to who has been to both, says both are great, but Fogo De Chao is by far the better place.

The absolute best Porterhouse 32 oz steak that this old man has ever flopped a fat lip over is at "TEXAS RED'S" in RED RIVER, NEW MEXICO! It was so juicy & tender, I could actually cut it up with a fork!!! It was 1 1/8 inch thick if my memory serves me right, the baked tater was huge & loaded just like I like it, ranch dressing on a tossed garden salad that came out in a trough!! LOL! Long Neck Coor's Light, about 8 of them, there was spicy roasted peanuts on the table while we were waiting for our food to come out, just peel'em & toss the hulls on the floor! It was an AWESOME meal, & was not that expensive either! That was the day that "DESERT STORM" started! It was a vacation I'll always remember, had so much fun!!

Not that you will go to this one often, but if you are ever in the area of Truth or Consequences NM, you have to go to Los Arcos Steak and Lobster House. I know what your thinking and when the wife and I ended up there on the way home from Grand Canyon I thought the same thing, but it was magnificent!! Service was some of the best I have ever experienced and everything they plated was superb!!

None of the other Babes seem to compare to the one in Sanger.

Superior Mexican Grill in Shreveport,LA. If you ever go there to gamble look in up. On Pines Ave. I think. Anyway, best fajitas on the planet. You can just order the fajita queso and eat chips and homemade tortillas and not be able to walk out. And, carefull with the margaritas. They may not be the best ever, but they are STOUT!

One subnote: There is a college and med school not far from there. This place is THE Meat Market for hot college chicks if you are single in Shreveport. I'm not anymore, took the fiance there and she agreed about the food, but told me no more trips to Shreveport without her.

I'm a foodie and pizza fiend. My wife is from NY and I've tried many of the famous ones up there and there are some good ones. The best pizza I've ever found in the metroplex is Alfredos on Bus. 121 in Lewsiville. That being said, one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at is a pizza place in, of all places, Crested Butte, CO. Weird but true. Called the Secret Stash.

Good idea Dave. It got me thinking, have I gotten so old that I no longer have a favorite restaurant to eat at or recommend?
Gawd, I hope not!
A lot of times, the places I frequent, just don’t seem to be consistent anymore.
When family comes to visit, they insist on The Salt Lick, or Hula Hut.
When I go home, up to East Texas it used to be The Country Tavern, best ribs and ambiance behind the pine curtain. Owner died, grandson took over, and everything changed.
At the coast, Port A. Beach Lodge.
So, for now, just ate there last week, I will go with,
Black’s BBQ in Lockhart.
The same owner is still active and there, he shook my hand, and welcomed me back.
So Dave, I will do just like you suggested. Take notes on places from everyone else, and try to visit them all.
Hilltop Cafe – Fredericksburg, is the first on my list.
Thanks for posting this!

Mary`s Cafe in Strawn has the best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten. It is alwsys consistent.Their mexican food is pretty good to.If you go on a weekend night you better go early or you will have to stand in line.If it is any kind of hunting season you will have to wait to get a table. The beer is always cold to.

Is the Hula Hut on Lake Austin? That sounds familiar. When my B-I-L got his new boat, we played around on the lake for awhile then tied up at a restaurant. I believe that the original plans was the Hula Hut but they were too crowded so we went next door to another place that was so-so.

nascar, that is right. Hard day of fishing on the lake, their margaritas are the ticket. This is how I do it up.

At the Salt Lick, I like the chef to show me the goods first.
