I agree that Mac's has the finest beef in Dallas, but it's just too damned high.

The last time I went I got a sliced beef basket. By the way, the fries maybe some of the best I've ever had. It was a four inch bun with a slight amount of beef on it. Let me say it, it's the best I've probably ever had, and I've been there a thousand times, but the last time I was there that basket and a tea cost me 10$ and some change for lunch. It's good, but it's not that good... BW's on Irving is good and priced much more fair.

Small grocery store west of Lake Conroe on FM 105 and FM 1486 in Dobbin, Tx. Best BBQ sandwich you will ever eat. The guy has a BBQ trailer sitting out front so you cant miss it. Gives you all the pickles, onions, peppers, sauce you want.

If aroung East Tx on I-20, get off around Kilgore ask where COUNTRY TAVERN is and get some ribs. You will have a new happy place.

I don't claim to be a barbeque expert. I like the ribs and chopped pork at the Bodacious on I20 @ Rte 42 in Kilgore.

I think barbeque is a matter of persoanal choice and what one person likes the other may not.

Im gonna tell one place not to go to. The Friend of Man Bar B Q near Anniston Al. Just the name ought to be a warning. I stopped, asked for ribs--dont have any--asked for brisket--dont know what that is. Then what do you call barbq?--beef roast and a pork roast in crock pot full of sauce cooked till the meat comes off the bones. Really crummy place.

Some where around Spicewood on Lake Travis my brother and I were riding around and saw a little joint (looked like an old Dairy Queen) that had a sign for "Godzilla Ribs". I do not for the life of me know what the hell was on that place. Yes it was ribs of some sort. Great big, bigger than the plate, like the whole rib cage of a cow or a horse maybe a dinosaur. Not even finished cooking. Gawdawfulcarap.

My vote for the best ribs I personally have ever tasted was some place in or near LLano. It was a log cabin style country place gas and diesel pumps and some gravel truck parking. Slab of baby back ribs $9.99 including tea and cole slaw and beans.
Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

Recently tried Snow's in Lexington. It was fantastic. Ranked #1 by Texas Monthly. Still not quite as good at Cooper's in Llano though.

What about the City Meat Market in Giddings? Anyone have any feedback? We'll be going thru there next Saturday on our way to Port A.
