Quick Update: Bois D'Ace Lake Almost Full!
As of this morning it's got less than a foot to go...and it's still raining...
If you have fished Bois D'arc one of the hardest challenges is finding productive shoreline to fish...The good fishing is usually covered in a thick forest that has been recently flooded. The trees are so thick you can't get any boats back there....but we all know there are fish back there...as the lake rises, the shoreline goes even further back...it's definitely a challenge. I am seeing some people take electric sawzalls with them. Looking forward to seeing the lake full and going in behind all the people's sawzall trails. 😉

Wait till you start hearing the chainsaws. Those are the trails you want to mark.

Went over creek that was 33' when it was down almost 1.21' so 34' deep creek

I just don’t get all this mess about a lake. With all the water to fish in the state and especially around DFW this stuff is crazy. When will it fill? When will it open? Why isn’t it open? There’s too much wood! There is too many boats! Parking sucks! Etc etc and on and on. New lake or not it is just all ridiculous.

You obviously have not fished a new lake, especially one stocked regularly with ShareLunker fish and fry/fingerlings since 2019....

You mean stocked like most big bass lakes in Texas? Fished plenty of those. You can enjoy a new lake without overhyping and constantly bitching about it is all I am saying.

Maybe they will just stay home and pitch and whine about the parking. Be more empty spaces for me. Lol

The first NEW lake I got to fish was Caney in Louisiana and I'll never for get it. Just being around the boat ramps was pretty entertaining. The game wardens just camped out there. Caney was the first lake in Louisiana to have a slot limit; 14-21 like Fork at the time. The general fishing population; even for largemouth bass, was a catch and eat crowd. There was an attitude that "I don't care what kind of limits they pass I'm keeping my fish" and you'd see these guys roll up to the landing in their stick and tiller steer jon boats with an ice chest full of bass and the game wardens walking from boat to boat writing tickets and seizing fish.. By then I'd already jumped on the slot limit/catch and release bandwagon and was fishing bass tournaments and would just watch this and laugh to myself, I rolled up towing a full on bass boat and they wouldn't even check my livewells, just my license and safety equipment. They'd usually always get them for other stuff too.

I sure hope fisherman do not cut down the trees and bushes.

Is that legal? I know some folks down here got in trouble for cutting trees since all our lakes are real low.

That ain't no chit. Look at all the "Ivie experts" who only showed up after Miliken exposed the lake. Those guys from over in East Texas would still be fighting for clientele if Ivie never experienced the New Lake Syndrome. They have done it to all the west Texas lakes. They wait until someone posts something and then all of the sudden the parking lot is full of "Dickhead Guide Service" trucks the next day. Once they kill that pond, it is on to the next. Thomas, Ivie, Oak Creek to name a few.

There are relatively few people that have been discussing those things on TTF. There were over 2 million fishing license sold in Texas this last year.

I mean, I understand wanting to fish a new lake. I get that. And if thats where your clients want to go, I get that too. But all the talk about Fork sucks right now so I have to take my clients to Bois Darc makes me laugh. They have been on beds from one end of the lake to the other since mid February. A couple of days we almost got to double digits throwing a fluke or wacky off the back of the boat while the other works on a bed fish. Deeper beds have been a little harder to see, but a majority of them are pretty easy to see with the right glasses. Even after the heavy rains.

The guide circus missed the real dark horse lake. E. V. Spence there is some deep water in the channels and some good FFS fishing I bet.

Haha!! DFW residents are the people who migrate and ruin the hot lakes. We try to hide the news from y'all! lol... And since Bois is not a secret lake to anyone in DFW let alone Texas; and especially not to folks who visit this forum, whatever happens to Bois was going to happen anyway.
