I think the economy is taking a large toll.

Bass fishing is mostly southern, like NASCAR…but even more niche than NASCAR.

Of those, maybe 1% tournament fish and even less will have live sonar.

In order to fish with a 1/16th oz unpainted jig head 2.5inch minnow and a jerkbait in Texas for suspended fish effectively, you would also need spot lock.

So, you are looking at maybe 0.25% of bass fishermen.

Most people fish for fun and this does not necessarily mean catching the most or biggest fish.

Most will fish tackle and with techniques they enjoy.

got two firiends that tournament fish and both have FFS and they tell me almost every tournament fisherman they compete against now has FFS...they also said they are seeing more high school fishermen that have latest FFS.....
got to believe you are way under estimating how many people are using FFS.......

I’m pretty sure the industry knows EXACTLY TO THE NEAREST SINGLE UNIT how many are being used. They make them and sell them….can’t possibly be more units out there than they have made and sold.

3 friends I have that I talk too on a regular basis, all 3 of us are burnt out on buying baits. Not because of ffs, just tired of wasting money. I have no pity on lure manufactures.

I am in the same boat so to speak. Have 3700 boxes full of stuff, way too many soft plastics, etc. Aside from replacing line and terminal tackle I don’t find myself needing much.

A lot of companies will start making more stuff that is "designed for use with FFS" 🤣

I'm going to make millions selling my custom "FFS neck braces"

Not mad, just finally came to my senses. Always chasing the next “this is it” bait and realized that it’s not the bait that’s the problem. Plus, they aren’t worth what they cost now. So, maybe it was the price increases that have turned me away. Whatever the reason, I’m still not having any pity on companies that have everything made in China.

Or maybe it’s just because I’m getting old.

I was looking at SPRO McSticks on the SPRO website and right now they've got them BOGO-1/2 price. They are regular price everywhere else. Bass Pro has deep discounts on a lot of lures as well. This inflation has really slowed a lot of hobbies down. People just aren't spending money for anything beyond basic needs. I know when I'm buying tackle I'm looking for deals, even fishing line.

I’d guess about 80% of every day fishermen, maybe more don’t use FFS anyways. Or just dabble with it every now and then. So I don’t see much change in the industry. Think about it. Everyone wanting to buy jerkbaits right now. A year or 2 ago it was A-rigs selling out. Fish adapt and they change. Companies will add to what they have in their line ups to what is selling. It’ll be like it has been for years.
