My dad landed at D-Day, spent two years in hospitals in England, Maine, and Corpus Christi. He walked with a limp while ranching for the next 40 years. He fought for me and my family.

I've posted before, my dad went into the Navy when he was 17 and finished his 1st enlistment on his 21st birthday, Nov 28, 1941. Went right back on in on 12/08/'41 and stayed in until retirement. Spent the war in the Pacific. Never spoke about it but I know he was at some major battles. RIP

Dad was a 4-year Navy guy stationed on Midway.
Brother is a retired Air Force F16 pilot.
I spent 4 years in the Airbourne Infantry (Long Range Surveillance).
Oldest son has 9+ years in Air Force working on missile defense.
Youngest son is a Marine who will end his 4-year enlistment next year.

I could go back further, all the way to the civil war. Proud of my heritage. Both family and country.

Pa (volunteered and dropped out of UT) and did two tours in Korea, Navy, which pissed off his Pa, who was a retired Lt, Colonel, Army, WW2 Philippines. Pa then served 8 years in the NG to get on the good side of his Pa.

Pa's step dad was Army in the Pacific during WW2. Island hopper.

Two of Ma's brothers served during the Korean War, Canadian Army. Uncle Joe was KIA Oct 15, 1951 and is buried over there. After Uncle Joe volunteered, his older brother volunteered to go and look after him. After his death a few years ago, his request was to be buried next to his brother in Korea. I posted about the ceremony on the TFF. I believe he was the first one from any nation to request a burial over there.

My dad and two of his younger brothers enlisted after Pearl Harbor. My dad was in the Army Air Corps and rose to the rank of Staff Sgt. His two brothers were also in the Army. One of the served in the Pacific and was involved in a terrible fight on one of the islands and my old-times disease is not letting me remember which one. The oldest brother was chosen to stay home and help my grandma with the family farm in East Texas. The youngest brother was too young for WWII, but enlisted in the Army and fought in Korea.

My granddad was in France during WWII fighting the Germans.
