Valiant effort this week trying to make a comeback, but in the end, jerking on the front looker couldn’t be beat. Congrats Hamner!

Someone smarter than me pointed out that one of the best Scopers out there finished 50th while a guy beating the bank finished 5th.

Kinda takes away the no skills needed with FFS argument.

Ha! Brilliant!
All it’s missing is the wardrobe of jumpsuits hanging in the background.

Cool thing about is Hamner said he caught a lot without using FFS in this one too. He broke the gotta go one way or the other mode. He was able to merge the two styles and go wire to wire. He even had to scrap an area or two and readjust.

Ben Milliken (one of the best scopers out there) said in his interview that his technique didn't work at Grand Lake and it showed in his finish. He also stated that he couldn't figure the lake out, and I think that is directly related to him not being able to just scope.
So IMO, if BASS or MLF wants to make this all fair, just put more lakes into the mix like Grand Lake. It just proved that old school fishing is still a thing.

Matt you are too funny......weighed more big fish and won more money on THAT spinnerbait than any other bait. IMO a truly magical bait.

I don't mind the scopers at all and I watch every Dustin Connell video out there but the more I watch the more I have realized that a ton of guys that are real successful are not 100% scoping which to me makes them really good to be able to fish both ways to take advantage of fish in different sections of the lake. I just don't understand the people who try to make you believe that some people only won because they scope and just throw to the side the amount of fish not caught scoping as being a reason they might have won. If I was a younger man and was spending the money to have a really good boat like the 5 that I had back in my day I would love to have the new technology on my boat but no way would I limit myself to only using the screen. You wouldn't see me get rid of my Swim Jigs, Flipping stick, Topwater, Chatterbait, etc but I would sure like to also back off and fish brush piles and locate schools of shad and try to pick them off.

Lots of those jerkbait fish were caught targeting schools of fish that were running bait. I say that only to say that lots of those casts were at groups of activity rather than casting at individual fish. That's a way different scenario than what we saw at Toldeo Bend and parts of the Fork Tournament. The second place guy (cant recall his name) was casting mainly at brush on points. He was using Mega Live mainly to make casts at brush rather than casting at an individual fish. To me what we say at Toledo is the highest level of FFS fishing you can do. Targeting individual fish in open water is the pinnacle of using FFS in my opinion. Not trying to take away anything from the guys at the top of the classic standings. Just way different compared to the first two tournaments of the year in my opinion.
